Myk nailed it.  Underpaid on my first 68 back in 84, then took almost 30 years to buy another and probably overpaid, but in the end I'm happy and now can't wait for the snow to melt and the salt to wash away.

For some reason I am much more handsome when driving my Charger... everyone looks and gives me a thumb's up!    ;)

RallyeMike

Well, I reported earlier in this thread that I wasnt going to buy any more Charger's but that didnt hold up (no surprise).

I have since bought a 69 Charger 500 which was a smoking bargain. I could have flipped it for a good profit, but it's a keeper.  Sadly, I have also inherited a 73 Charger that I also had a hand in building. I parted ways with my 61 Chrysler to make room for it.  :'(

Mike I can feel the trauma that wracks you over that 73 Charger. I don't want you suffering any further so
I'll take it off your hands so you can't have to look at it anymore.  :D

I know for a fact that i overpaid for my car, but i helped a family friend out in doing so, so i dont feel much remorse in paying what i did, i looked at quite a few that were better quality and better price (few thousand more butat least a driver) but the one i bought is the only one that i felt "this is my car" when i sat in it when i went to look at it

Back in 2006 my dad and I bought a 1996 dodge 1500 lifted 5 inches, big wheels and tires, crate 318 in it and a shift kit, but every body panel was banged up on it, a 1995 banshee, and a 1973 charger 400 4 speed that just need a new clutch.  Charger ran and drove it 50 miles home and had to trailer the truck bc power steering was out on it.  The charger needed to be restored and had some rust in spots.  Paid $4500 for those as a package deal. I felt the charger was easily worth $4500.  Just needs to be finished up on body work and paint.  All new interior and everything is ready to put it back in.  B5 blue with blue interior and black rallye stripes, should be beautiful.

In january I bought a 68 charger r/t for $5500.  Put less than $100 dollars into it and put it on ebay and it sold for this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291074828111
12,500, i'd say I didn't overpay for that one for sure  :coolgleamA:.
The car was just too far gone for me.  Here is a big thread on it:  http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=7962764&page=0&fpart=all&vc=1

Did I ever! Bought a 69' RT SE track pack car for $5,000 in, I think 2003 (texas toy box) The car had more rust than I thought a west Texas car should have had, but at least the frame rails were solid,or so I thought until we discovered that the car had been T-boned in the passenger side door jam area and the frame was bent. Car was a shell, with the motor and tranny long gone, luckily the dana was still there...the lone bright spot. Have replaced both front fenders, radiator support, driver and pass. floor pans, passenger rocker and door jam, trunk floor and extensions, tail light panel, rear valance, both quarters and both doors, I know I'm forgetting some stuff, oh there was no interior at all except for the dash and it was missing half of the wood grain. I've done all the work myself other than having an old high school friend/bodyman, help with paint. I'm lucky I like swap meets! Have found some great deals for the car over the years, got a 18-spline 4-speed with 69' hurst shifter, bell housing, clutch and brake pedal assembly and real nice 4-speed console from a guy I ran into at a salvage yard for $600. The car looks real good now and hopefully it will move under its own power for the first time since I"ve owned it this summer. When I look at pictures of the car when I got it, it makes me kinda ill, but man is it gonna make for some great before and after pics. P.S. I have a great wife!
What was I thinking?

Ghoste

Yeah that Texas Toy Box are a real nice bunch aren't they?  I look forward to seeing the finished car some day.

69rtsetracpac

I wasn't real mad at the toy box, they sent numerous pics. of the car, but he failed to tell me everything he knew, I forget what his name was, the owner (dad) but he sounded like Ross Perot on the phone LOL. I had blinders on when I learned it was RT SE 4 speed car and I think it was at the height of the mucsle car boom, it basically was just a tin can with a fender tag. I'll have to try and put some pics. on here.
What was I thinking?

I bought my car in the Spring of 1996. That's now, what?, almost 18-years ago. It was a fairly complete, mostly correct R/T 4-speed car that I washed, waxed and drove pretty regularly for 12-years or so. I paid $11,700 for it then. I paid much more than that to repaint it and freshen it up last year. Too much? That depends on how much fun it still is and what it might be worth now.

This is what the C6B Frost Blue interior looked like then, and it has aged very gracefully. I did replace the headliner since this series of shots. Did I pay too much?

F8-4life

Nope I did not overpay although most non car people say so...
I think I could double my $$ if I ever sold.

For those that would like a '69 R/T SE 4-speed that is done (well, they are never really done, but you know what I mean), I'm debating selling mine.  Not that I'd overcharge anyone.   But I'd certainly listen to good offers.

I'm in Santa Clara, CA.  My car has been out West all it's life (originally sold in AZ).  I was thinking of putting it on eBag, and a few other sites (like here) next month.  I just don't have time for 1 car, let alone 2 (I have a '70 GTX too), these days and it unfortunately sits in the garage too much.  I assume there are others out there that would be able to enjoy it much more than I can anymore.

Man if I didn't already have an R/T.........and cash........and a bigger garage.
That is a HIGH dollar car IMO.

It won't last long if you do list it. I like that color almost as much as my Q5

Hate to hear you are possibly selling that beauty! I am 1300 miles away and do not have the cash/or room to give it a good home but, you can bet it will sell quickly as long as you don't ask crazy money for it!

If your other car was a '68 or '69 GTX, it would be a no-brainer for me as I always loved those cars. A '70 GTX is nice but it would have to be damn nice to keep it instead of the Charger!

I'm probably just a few miles from you. I should have my car up here next month.  If you do decide to keep it, let me know and we can head out for a drive and scare the shit out of the guys sipping their lattes outside at one of the 1400 Starbucks around here.  Tough to beat a 68 and 69 R/T on the prowl at the same time!!

Yeah, the '70 GTX is a love/hate thing for most.  I fall into the love category. But, aside from the lack of a Hemi, it's exactly how I'd have ordered it.

Nice color and I like the '70 GTX, just not as much as the '68 and '69 models. I think the front and rear fascia of both look a little better to me. That one would be a keeper for most anything else for me but ..... a 1969 RT/SE 4-speed? I don't know!

RAC95054

But my GTX is my fav color (EB7), 4-speed pistol grip (no console) and most importantly, air grabber.  I think the 70-71 air grabber was the best car option ever.  I wish they'd had had something similar for the Charger in '69.

BROCK

I agree.  Chargers really got robbed.  When it came to all the cool cold air induction
systems MoPar offered, we were left out until 71 :icon_smile_dissapprove:

My Charger came to me for $1900 on a trailer in 1983.  They wanted more for it, but
it broke down during the test drive.  I left a deposit & gave them a week to fix it.  Not
a bad compromise - I saved $600 & all it took was a fuse & a bit of electrical tape to
get it running like a top :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:
It's a 70 R/T SE numbers matching 440 auto
