68-70 Charger: no cold air induction necessary, they got it right the first time...

charge69

I agree with MYK !!!   No cold-air induction system, even the air-grabber, would look right on a '68-'70 Charger. Only possible exception might be a six-pack setup but,  still not right for me!

EB7 is a beautiful color and it would look righteous on a '70 GTX (and it does) but I cannot imagine a cold-air induction system on a 2nd Gen Charger.

A good point, with the way the hood is sculpted... but they should have done something... like cowl induction vent, or something through the grill.  I'm sure they could have gotten creative.

What would you guys think about the A-990 type scoop like Dick Landy used? I thought that looked pretty sweet.
What was I thinking?

Yup. I did.

But a little TLC made it much better!!!

Personally, I wish it had been an option.  This looks pretty good to my untrained eye:

I think the gently downward sloping nose of the 2nd Gen Chargers keep any scoop from looking right on them. The 1st Gens look good to me with a "race HEMI" scoop on them and the 3rd Gens look right with the factory scoop.  I just cannot like a 2nd Gen Charger with anything but a stock hood. YMMV

That's funny !  I am an old fart and I know that one!  By the way, MY mileage sucks!  I haven't actually measured it but, because there is no choke and I have to completely warm up the engine before heading out, my guess would be 6 to 8 MPG !  At least, it does seem to run better with Startron additive in the premium gas!

By the way, on the original question here, I, definitely did not over pay for my Charger, even for back in 1976!  However, I have probably put around 70K in the restoration!  I think I could recover my cost of restoration but,  who knows!!

So you're asking about what, $72k....      ;)

Funny again!  :icon_smile_big: My Charger is NOT for sale and will not be for sometime! When it does go up for sale, chances are it will be a private sale with little or no mention here and it would take well into six figures to make me even turn my head to listen! I got some driving to do to make up for the 35+ years it sat in my garage not being driven, just taking up space! I, also, paid wayyyy less than 1K for this original Hemicar back in 1976! :2thumbs:

My wife DOES consider it just an old car despite my best efforts to make her see the light and I will eventually sell it so there will be no arguments about it from my Grandsons who would probably just sell it anyway!  I have to help her make it when I pass as I just do not trust my kids to take care of her. They all get along great and this year will mark our 38th anniversary but, she is not their Mother and we have no children of our own!

My health (stroke with residuals) and age (almost 8 yrs. older than her) almost guarantees me passing before her but, I ain't ready just yet!! :nana:

$450 in 1982...as you see.
From original owner that did not love it anymore.

I still have it.

I'm going to have to say that is the coolest '70 R/T I've ever seen... and I've even seen the 440-6 pink one in person.

I just bought a 69 with a 318 in it for $25,000 looks nice but dose need some work that was not mentioned in the sale. I just had to put a trani in it and some things here and there will need body work in 5 years or so not a lot but some cant see it until your right at it. I bought it from Michigan not seeing it outside of pictures and a video of it.  I live in CT and nothing even close to here for sale in my price range at the time.  Might have paid a little more than i should of but hay it mine.

Paid $3500 for mine in 2010. I don't think I got ripped off, but it wasn't a great deal either.

I don't regret it though. The only rust repair I had to do was in the trunk. That's a rare find. Lots of collision repair, but I'd take that over rust.

I paid $7100.00 for my '69 in 2004...off of e-bay.  It was originally a 318 car, but someone had dropped a 440 and 727b in it roughly 20 years prior to me buying it.

It wasn't quite daily driver status when I got it, but the floor pans were solid, and the motor ran pretty good.  I put new wheels and tires, a new exhaust system, and a new fuel tank on it, and bolted the seat belts in (they were in a box in the trunk...).  Got a used pair of front seats to replace the Hyundai front seats that were in it.  Then I drove it around for 4 years before putting it in the body shop.

For what it was, I think I got a good deal.

They're in pretty good condition, but DAYMN! $$$$$$$  And here I am thinking Canadian prices are heavy.

I guess that's the price you pay to get a rare foriegn car?
