You guys are really putting allot of time and energy into a kid you guys met on the internet a couple of weeks ago. I think you are reading way too much into it. Let say that its really his car, you think he going to be driving at the age of 16 or 17. If he is like the majority of us on this site restoring a car it going to take years before its on the road. So, i say don't sweat it. How come your not picking on Cody for having a charger at 16. Sorry Cody for using you as an example, nothing personal.   :Twocents:

Because Cody has never made comments like this?

I know, I'm talking about people saying it not right for a 16 year old to own/drive a 69 Charger. Teenager's have owned and driven these cars for years. I had a 440 Roadrunner when i was 16, anyone else here own one of these muscle cars when they were a teenager?

My first car was a 62 Impala SS conv, my 2nd a 57 nomad, and a Muscle car every year after like Chevelles, Camaro's and GTO's.  Later in life the MOPARS.  Yeah, I fooled around here and there it was the 70's.  But I didn't have a  high horse big block, and talk like that.

I've tried to pull away from talking about Him.  I think we beat to death the attitude issues and he's apologized many times.  I'm afraid will just lose the kid, and what good would that do anyone. I wish we could just talk about his car and how we can help him, and obtain another Charger loving member.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Please do!
We had this going PERFECT about 4-5 pages back and then we were torn back to arguing, bashing, but there were some much needed thoughts.
If anyone wants to bring this thread to how it should be, I have a transmition question that can be argued.

#1) Cody and the others around this age do not make comments like this and don't act like know-it-alls. Shows the maturity needed to drive with their head instead of their dicks.

#2) Statistics show that young drivers are more apt to be involved in accidents because of their inexperience. This along with his "It's going to happen" attitude is a bad combo.

#3) I would think that most people who see danger ahead of someone would try and tell them about it, even if they are too hard headed to listen.

So Ryan, where's the car now and what are the first things you plan on working on?  Whats your thought about going resto mod, or more towards original but with your style wheels and rims?

Lets hear your question, and then discuss it.
Don "teh mopar man" hes the go to for what you need done, he built the engine for the fast and furious challenger
he said that if i put in a 5 speed manual (of course overdrive 5th) well he said i should get about 25mpg highway and 16 city
Im not scared to put in a new transmition (because its not stock and I LOVE standard)
but whats your take on the awsome mileage from my car?
I'm pretty sure im going to get 6-8mpg the way it is now.

She's rust free, the under side it almost completely painted (just needs touch up ans clear coat), the whole drive train is in and except for engine parts it done, and I just just pulled everything out of the cab (I'm not sure of the car translation) but I just sanded and primed half of it, and almost got high in the process :paintingpink: (cheap homedepot masks)  but shes getting close, almost put the tank in, until I found out that the sending unit yearone sent me is crud, shorts out, but the tank's all painted ready to install
Im going for original but oldschool badass, keep the old look but upgrade the sound, brakeing, drivetrain, rubber, ect. but mainly original
the rims came on it, I kind of like them, and I got 2 of the originals with it, I'm still on the rocks, Im kind of making it up as I go, nothing is certain, just get it road ready and then tweek it to my likeing :yesnod:

If you think you know what I want for it please tell me.
P.S. when i planned out "my 69" I was going to do a v8-v12, viper transmition with highspeed over drive (130mph and up only) black paint and interior, make it a sick dragster with more hp and torque then a semi (eventually I would have found a way) but thats not this project

I love original.  I did my car as original as I could afford, but I gotta tell you If I could afford the 5 speed I'd do it.  You can always put the stuff that came with it to the side.  These cars suck gas big time.  Gas is cheap now but won't be later for sure.  If you can swing the 5 speed do it.  The trani that's in it now isn't original anyway correct?  If it was, just pull it and save it.  When Gas was 4.50 a gallon here in CT.  My Charger was always between empty and a 1/4 tank.  I get 8 to 10 mpg with a stock motor.  I drain the tank fast.  That trani isn't the only thing changed I'm sure, not a biggie do as you please and enjoy.

Well, use our search engine for the questions you may have.  Lets say you were going to remove the front windshield, then just type that in the search box and see what comes up etc....

:scratchchin:  What gears do you have ?
stock 727 gears and 8 3/4 axle, Im not sure.

Well, next time you're under the car check the studs on the center section of the rear end to see if there is a small metal tag on one of them. If you find one see what numbers are on it.  3.23,  3.55, 3.91, etc.  It may also have SG on it for Sure Grip.

Yes, 3.55 gears are a good compromise!  Now he just needs to determine if thats what he has.
