The new rodbearings I got with the strokerkit looks very strange, like they are burned. Blue and brown, is this normal? :shruggy:
Otherwise they "feels" good.

Those bearings are FINE to use !

Without getting too technical here, the "burnt" appearance visible is the NORMAL result of the different flashing used on "H" eccentricity, "Race" bearings.

Check the part number for the "H" designation.

Good to GO !

Just wondering why there's a difference in appearance between bearings that are new and come in the same box/production run ?

Not doubing you Bob....just curious.  :scratchchin:

Maybe i'm just too finicky !!!

Thanks, Ron

So what purpose does flashing the bearing serve?

The bearings are baked for hardening and some have ugly colour, function is just the same but looks less nice. Propably cheaper for
the company who buys them.

Looks like some got baked in the oven while others recieved the blowtorch baking procedure.  :P

Hey, if Clevite says to run them you're good to go.  ;)

If buying new rodbearings was the only issue building a 500 stroker I would buy tons of them.

Yep , got these H series in the 605 (chevy journal) , just the way the hardening procedures done.

Just thinking , why the hole in there?

frederick

The hole is the for oil supply to the bearingsurface.
If you put it on the wrong side->no oil supply = ruined bearing+crank

Got no oil hole on the H or P series rod bearings that i've used , am i missing something?, what's it's function?   Talkin rod bearings not main bearings.
