still waiting on parts. ha ha ha  like that has never happened before. got the fenders in already, hood came in w/the back corners broke off (having a new one made) is going to work out for the best though, i decided to go w/coronet r/t scoops on the hood. so that is being molded as we speak. going w/a black top, black wing, and black fender scoops or black hood scoops, havn't decided yet. the 6 pack is doing quite well along w/msd system that was put on. the whole front end is for sale. it is in very good shape i think. did ya'll notice that daytona for sale on ebay....750k he is out of his mind. broke the throttle cable friday while driving down the road, atleast it happened in front of a parts store. and NO they did not have it (can you believe that) it sure floored the hell out of me i'll tell ya. it is coming today hopefully. this thing does like 110 octane. i use to have 116 that i ran in my 72 rr but it was really built and could take it. as soon as the hood gets in (2 weeks i was told today) i'll shoot somemore pics. enjoy your day and thanks for the inquiry, steve

Nice Road Runner, & I might be one of the only ones who'd consider the same idea of making a Superbird from it.

It's hard to say what you'd get for the entire '70 nose, but I'd stash it for myself & not worry about how much it'll offset the cost of the Superbird project. When you see it advertised it isn't cheap, but I tried selling a mint '70 nose a few years back with a base, bulge hood & nobody wanted it. I was asking about $2000 for everything, including fenders, grilles, supports, hood with turn signal insert, bumper, etc. I also had a perfect air grabber hood with EVERYTHING except a decent rubber seal, & again, nobody wanted it. It had a NOS air cleaner, all hoses, OEM hood pins, all the vacuum parts, etc. I was asking $1500 for the A/G.

Now that I have a '70 Road Runner, I am keeping the spare nose & hoods in case some nimrod who can't drive hits me. For what the Superbird conversion will cost you, the original nose might be worth saving compared to what you'll get for the parts.  :Twocents:

Everyone keeps saying that there are a lot of 70 Satellites out there. I don't see them. I tried to buy a real nice one on e-bay last year and it went to 9k and it only had a 318 and of course the standard dash. If you already have the car, I don't think that it's all that bad of an idea to use a roadruuner to build a superbird. So much quicker and easier in my opinion.

If anyone's interested, I'll sell my 70 Satellite, with coronet fenders and hood, a nice steel wing and a fiberglass nose for 6k...come and get it.

still waiting on parts. hopefully this week or the next. did talk to ted thats always good.

oldcarnut

I hope you have better luck than I did.  FedEx damaged my rear plug, nose, window, hood ext.,and some other things but Ted covered it all and stayed in touch with me and let me know what was going on while he got new parts ready . FedEx treated the packages pretty rough and left them on my porch squashed and with holes punched in them :eek2: . One package was being delivered about the time the hurricane blew through his area and got misplaced/held up for awhile.  Make sure when you take delivery that you check it out right away if it even looks like it's been wrinkled up any.  Make the delivery guy note it. Post a pic of the hood when it comes in.

UPS and Fed-Exe both are rough on packages.
Now that business is slow, maybe they will figure out that the better company will survive...or get bailed out by the government.  :eyes:

talked to ted again, he has got all the parts finished except the back window plug trim. he said that he should be done with that in a week. looking forward to seeing them here.

petercharger

I am ammazed that you would clone something that nice...it's like taking a 69 charger 500 and making it a daytona...its a clone...and at the expense of a nice 500...but like everyone here says its your car...but wow what a nice car... :drool5:
best way to get a hold of me is brushcollege@msn.com...thanks

nascarxx29

Not to bad of a car .I lived in TX -80-s and know Ted from buying and selling wingcars .He had a similar road runner I think

I'm using Ted's fiberglass nose, valance and headlamp doors on my tona clone. I had his wing and was planning to use it until I bought the new hollow aluminum one from Dane. That fiberglass wing was very impressive.
He makes some pretty nice fiberglass parts.

Nice looking parts.  I will be interested to see how well it fits and what kind of trimming will need to be done.  Keep us updated!
