It was built with a '68 Coronet.

The wing looks very out of place to me on that car but I can't put my finger on it.  And not because it's a Coronet either, it just looks odd to me.

I think it's too far forward , so the trunk lid will open .

That must be it.  I was looking at the uprights thinking they were too wide or something but you're right, they've moved them ahead on the panel.
