today is the day....had the local 'expert tuner guy' give the Scow a once over yesterday and we meet up at the 'serious' Chassis Dyno joint in about 2 hours to see just how sad, weak and pathetic my car is.

Will I score? will I get to second base? Or will I just be standing at the side of the gym with my hair all greased up and no date for the prom?

Just so we know where your emotional scale is, what are your expectations?

SFRT

none really...car runs great etc, but..it seems ....not so fast...super torgey...but not so fast, then again, I am used to motorcycles so maybe my brain is out of whack.so I am betting I will end up with something like 400 rwhp which means I will need to get a more radical top end in the near future. which is fine....I just don't want be embarrassed these dyno guys do all the really fast cars around here. if I end up with say 425 plus at the wheels I will be 'happy'. anything higher I will be really happy.

the 'expert' guy says though that with my bottom end build, he can re-cam and recarb the scow and get 600 plus fairly easy...so I guess maybe I will end up doing that.

Well, I didn't hear any explosions from your way, so it went well? Looking forward to the dyno numbers.  :2thumbs:

Not bad at all. :2thumbs:

So how do you feel about it?  What were the comments?  You have to tell us the rest of the story.

SFRT

so basically..if one allows a 20% power loss for the drivetrain I got around

485 HP at flywheel
405 at Rear wheel.

there is definately room for improvement.

they tell me that with the too small cam vs my compression ratio this is definately a good result and that the car is running 'strong'. we settepped down 2 jet sizes, theres no detonation problem etc. they tell me my torque numbers are good and that I peak out at 5750 RPN, also good for a street car

suggestions are:

more radical cam .port the heads and improved carburation will give me another 60-70 'true' HP on 91 octane street gas, andthat thats about all I am going to get out of my motor.

What the lift & duration on the Cam you got now? Whats the Compression now? What size carb do you have? Whats the rear gear size & Torque Converter size? Curious or is it confidential?  LEON.

Brock Samson

cam...230-something .525 lift

compression 10.9-1 with KB forged pistons

carb proform '850' ( its actually a holley 750 body)

gears are 3.54's

its a 18 spline 4 speed transmission.

I think I am going to go with a custom grind much more radical solid cam and some form of multiple carburation and have the 'expert' dude port the heads.

I might be confused on the gears they are whatever came in the original A33 'Track Pack'.......the Dana was unmolested when I got the car.....

also..the dude that owns the joint said tha his dyno was 'very stingy' and that an honest 400 hp plus reading was 'damn good'. claims that his dyno often returns readings 60-70 HP lower than other tuner shops dynos. Over-all I am happy, the car is running really really well and has given my zero problems in its first 1000 miles since the rebuild. I do mean ZERO problems.

Not confused, 3:54 is correct.
