I am the youngest guy in my dept at work by 20 years.  All i hear about is the good ol days of the late '70's when everyday was a party and everyone was shagging everyone... unprotected by the way and no one cared.... wtf?  Then AIDS came along and the 80's depression and that was the end of it.

it was a little more care free than it is now. but, is that good or bad? the older people of the time were more Conservative than the young. a little differently than today. the law seemed more relaxed back then. most problems were delt with within the family, or locally. unlike today. now, everybodys got a lawyer and if you pet the neighbor's dog the wrong way, well, you know. back then, when a kid was bad, the neighborhood delt with the problem, and when it was over, they forgave and forgot. not like today.

AIDS wasn't heard of, but there were plenty of other things going around that you couldn't wash off with Bab-o. (Now we'll see who shows their age)

You nailed it right there. It was by far a simpler life than it is now.

I can tell you one thing for sure, Having an ounce of pot these days will not get you the sentance that it did back in the 60's. I remember going to the court house for a field trip with the class. I cant remember exactly but it was probably 68 or 69, and on the court docket were 5 people that were caught at a nearby lake smoking weed around a campfire. In todays time that wouldn't be that big a deal. Maybe 30 days in jail and probation. But back then, out of these 5, 3 of them got 5 years in the Ohio State Reformatory, One got 8 years and 1 of them got off with 1 year.

So yeah it was a different time.

The music was pretty cool in the 60's and 70's, and I still have probably 60 or so albums from that era.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.
