Went outside yesterday to check to house and noticed that the automatic light system that goes down the side of my house by my daughters room has recently been ripped out of the gorund. Obviously some pervert is trying to peak into my daughters room at night and doesn't want to get spotted from the street from the home lighting. Of corse I will be repairing it but do you all have any other suggestions as to what else I should think about doing. I don't have tons of money for a high tech secuity system right now so I'm thinking fake camera's with leds and maybe a motion detector light and some security stickers on her window. Anything else you all can think of.

People are so sick and completely descust me that they do these kind of things

I need to protect my daughters privacy and I'm very concerned about this.

Maybe a few "house protected by me smith and wesson" will help. lol

Automatic flood lights all over, front back sides, thought my neighbors would be pissed, they love them,But I put mine in for my Charger.Put them in high as you can.German Shepard s are the best though!Good luck(I did find a remote camera for 25 bucks that plays into a TV or VCR, but the pick is crappy)

:iagree:

We have motion lights on the back side of our house. They work pretty good. We also have a big "Security Light" up on a telephone pole next to our garage. Keeps pretty much the whole yard lite up. It depends on where you live on whether or not you could do that. :shruggy:

Definitely mount the lighting & wiring as high as you can. Not sure what the wall looks like on your house, but if you run the wiring inside metal conduit under a soffit (overhang) it'll be safer. If you can access the inside of the soffit, you can hide the wiring completely. Usually the soffit will be vented so air can get to the attic. If that's the case with yours, then running the wires to the light fixture from the attic might be the simplest route.

Yup that light popping on is what spooks them, cut down or get rid of any bushes that could be used for cover/hiding.

We can run in the computer as well.  :2thumbs: I've got a multiplexer that can run 16 cameras going into a 24hr VCR that is set up to record for two weeks at a time. Then I have a line running into my DVR and records nightly.  In the one shot you see a Mexican trying to get into my van.  :rotz: I happened to be up and as soon as I opened the front door he took off running.  :rotz:  LIZZARD, I don't know the name of the camera housings but if you print a copy and take it to a security camera installer they can get you some real cheap.  They may even give used ones to you for free.  I've got another camera in back of my house as well as in the bedroom.   :drool5:  :smilielol:  JK about the bedroom.  You put a couple of these up in plain view and people will go to the next house.  But there are the dumb petty thieves that for some reason can't see the big camera 10ft away from his head.  :smilielol:  :slap:  Chuck......

Your spot on with that set up!I've got an old talking car alarm too, you should see kids jump when my charger says "PLEASE STEP BACK FROM THE VEHICLE!".One day I was working on my kids room and heard voices saying"go on touch it!It talks I tell ya!Touch it!"I looked out the window and there was 3 or 4 boys standing in front of my Charger, I yelled out" HEY YOU KIDS!Now your setting off my silent alarm!!!".After that you would have thought the Charger was like the car on Nightrider, the kids LOVED it!

get a driveway alarm  just google (WIRELESS DRIVEWAY ALARM) you then can put them anywhere and when the creep crosses the invisible line it will give an alarm right next to your bed. they are cheap also.

Get a outdoor camera that is motion activated.  Like the ones hunters use to monitor the wildwife on their property. Hard to see and takes great digital photos without a flash and it's infired. Get the jerk arrested.

I'm considering something for my house as well, especially the garage since it's detached and all the way across the back yard, and I can't see the main door from the house. I'm definitely going to invest in some motion sensor lights, maybe a camera or two that I can hook into my home network.

Ask my brother though and he'll tell you a Remington 870 works great - he caught a guy trying to get in my mom's garage a few years back. Dude heard the pump action and tore two boards off the fence getting away. My brother noticed the motion lights coming on from the home office and went to investigate as he knew the dogs were inside. We get a lot of raccoons and possum out there but he took the shotgun, just in case. Turned out to be the right decision.

Definitely try the motion sensor. I have one by my shop were the 68,70 and my Peterbilt are keep about a 125 feet from the house. They definitely work and are very inexpensive. The one I have cost about $15 and uses batteries so you can put them just about anywhere.

After our house was broken into (twice) we added motion floodlights to the front and rear. The front ones are a bit low and twice I've found the bulbs unscrewed. I check them when I get home from work so this has to happen during the daytime. We added another solar powered motion light to the shed in back. In addition, I added 4 infrared cameras that are wired to PC. The videos are stored locally on the hard drive but I've set it to upload still images to an FTP server whenever the motion sensors trip. That way, even if someone gets in and steals all the equipment we still have evidence. I can also check the video feeds from work. It's surprising how cheap the system was to install (especially compared to insurance deductibles). I think the basic setup (1 camera, 4 port PC card, software) was around $160. Each additional camera is around $80 but you can get cheaper ones if you're only using them indoors and/or don't need infrared. Interestingly enough, you could also just use a webcam but most don't see well in the dark. Do a Google search for "web cam security system".

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

This seems like a pretty good option for me right now since Christmas pretty much so cleaned me out. I went ahead and picked one up off e-bay for 16.99. Not bad. :2thumbs:

This way it will alert me and I can go out myself and get a visual description and know who it is from there. Camera's may come later after I get my income tax check back.  :yesnod:

Hopefully the wind in the side bushes don't mess with it too much.

Thanks guy's
