Anyone install one in a 68-70 charger? Very difficult? :shruggy: What kind of adapters used? What engine is it behind? Like it?

I am going with T 56 behind a hemi, in a 68. Bellhousing can be a bitch.  I am using a World Product block, that has both BB Mopar, and BB Chevy bolt pattern. Mcleod has then a bellhousing that will fit BB Chevy / T-56. If you go with a new style Hemi, i think XV Motorsports has a bellhousing. With anything else (MOPAR) i think you will be in for fabricating your own. The tunnel will need some modifications, but i do not know how much, since i havent started the work yet...........just bought the parts.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

I saw one of those on Wednesday.   They didn't think of how to mount the starter correctly.

Well I'm installing one in a 70 Charger - with the Viper motor attached  :yesnod:
You *will* have to hack out a section of our transmission cross member and modify the tunnel.

If you plan to run T-bars, then you have to plan to add reinforcements or a modifcation to the section of the cross member you remove.  DO NOT attempt to drive the car or have a load on the suspension if you do not add reinforcements - it will bend down the frame where the t-bars attach.  :eek2:
I moved my tunnel up about 2" because I didn't want the T-56 hanging down low - this may or may not be a problem with a non-v10 motor (I had to push the motor back as far as possible).  Given that you have more room in front of a v8, you may not need to modify the tunnel much (if at all) with the exception of the cross member - no WAY will the T-56 clearance it without modifications.

Of course, the shifter comes out a different location - so you will have to modify accordingly. The stock shifter sucks - so replace that (I purchased a Steeda Tri-Ax billet unit).

My car was a non-console auto.  I installed an auto-console (with 4 speed console plate) & brackets (moved it back about 2") to center the shifter up in the console plate.

I had to get pedals as well as a steering column as well...

The last pieces I am missing is the carpet & carpet trim for the console.

I have one behind a 440 using a custom machined aluminum adapter.  I did this many years ago with a machinist.  My adapter puts the start in the stock location and uses the stock viper bellhousing.  I have an aluminum flywheel machined for a 12" clutch so I could use a plate with the correct splines for the t56.  The linkage is all stock viper hydraulic.

Doctor Diff reportedly has an adapter to mate the T-56 to a stock Mopar bellhousing.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
