I'm looking to do the same conversion to one of my 3rd gen Chargers. You will need the 10 1/2" bell housing, not the 11". I'm thinking a hydraulic clutch will save a lot of misery during the install.
Just courious, is that a factory 440 74 Charger?

hi,
no it is not a real 440 car it was a 318 granny, it now has a 68 440 and i am using an 11 inch bell , the 11 inch works fine the ball stud is in the same place as 10 1/2 you just have to watch the bearing retainer size i am 75% done with it and i did run into problems with z bar line-up i was told there are 2 different k-frames in 73 and 74 which caused the ball stud on bell to be 3/4 of an inch forward of the frame ball stud but i modified the frame ball stud bracket, i did consider hydraulic clutch but i read in all the mopar mags that the units are problematic and are inferior, other than that it has been fairly succesful so far

The reason for the k-frame difference is simple, you car orginally had a small block.  If you did not switch it out or use the conversion kit from Schumachers, then your big block will sit differently if not incorrectly in the small block k-frame.   For big block cars, the k-frame is apparently different as the mounts are moved back just a bit to make room for the oil pan on the bb.   This is probably the cause for your alignment issue.

here is a thread where at the end  ( really on first reply on 2nd page ) there is a link to show somepics about differences of K frames

You must read Mopar Action...      Good old E-Booger just can't keep from throwing his opinion in there...     I have run a hydraulic clutch system in my charger without problems...    customers cars...    no problems...         What do all the high end exotics use again ?

Inferior my ass - some people just can't accept newer technology is better than the stuff they are used to...

Dont get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with the mechanical linkage...   I like it - but throw in a 6.1L hemi and a bellhousing with no mechanical provisions and it's an easy decision for me..

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip
