So I was randomly thinking today about adding A/C to my 66 Vert Satellite when I realized what someone needs to do it make a pattern for both A/C and non A/C firewalls so when people like me get this hair-brained idea we know where to drill the holes so all the factory stuff will bolt right up.   :Twocents:

I dont understand....   :scratchchin:   :shruggy:

A/C in a convertible?...??   :shruggy:     :shruggy:    :shruggy:

With A/C, whats the point of having the top drop?   :popcrn:

Maybe it's for when he has the top up and doesn't want it down?  :shruggy:

This guy put A/C into a '64 Valiant Convert with a Slant Six. :yesnod: Cool car!

I have always wondered that too, there are a pretty large number of ragtops out there with A/C as well.

The AC helps to keep the windows from fogging up on the inside while you're driving in the rain and the top is up.

Ask anyone that lives in Florida and has a drop top what they do in the summertime, in the middle of the day.... if they don't just put the car away for the whole summer, they drive around with the top up and the A/C going.

So, A/C in a drop top is a perfectly great idea. Heck, I live in Canada and I wouldn't hesitate to do it. It gets down right snaggly here in the summer time.

Yep, I've had many converts with A/C thank God.  Summer time sucks with the top down and the sun beating on your balding head.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Exactly - I have driven a couple verts without an A/C system driving through the desert...    it is not fun...      I am thinking that I have a A/C evaporator assembly (3 actually) along with all the other stock components - I am soon going to remove everything out of the engine bay and paint it - So I am thinking - "why the hell not" add the A/C - won't cost me anything and even if I never use it I will never say "I wish I would have...."

So - anyone have an A/C car apart right now ???    ;D

I put AC in this Dart...dark green car, black interior...and my bald head don't do well on a hot day....

I took all the AC stuff out of my Charger, welded up the firewall and smoothed it over...no drawings, sorry

how we did the conversion an a friends 66 charger was I had a 66 coronet air car that was trashed from a wreck and had been cannabilized for parts so we too the sawzall and cut the firewall out  and layed it against his and had an instant template for all the correct holes.

I'm just about finished installing the A/C in my 68 Firebird Sprint Vert with the OHC-6 4bbl.  So far everything has been going good.  Had to make my own brackets for the 6 cyl.  I thought some Mopar parts were hard to get but hardly anyone makes stuff for this motor--not even the motor mounts. Top down and summer heat on vinyl seats are a real pain in the butt and anything else touching them.  At least there wasn't any firewall mods to do.
