An automotive winter observation without a point

We are getting hit with a huge snowfall here today but it didn't lessen our need for groceries and so this morning I decided to head out through the deep white crap and get our daily bread.  I went and jumped into my four wheel drive, poorly engineered, gas hog, inferior built Dodge and off I went.  I didn't travel far before I noticed something that I picked up on last year and may have mentioned then as well.  It seems that the only other vehicles making any progress on the plugged streets were other poorly engineered, shoddily built, dinosaur Big 3 lemons.  The HUGE majority of cars and trucks I saw stuck in the snow were all vastly superior, never fail, marvels of modern engineering and astonishing quality Asian cars.  Now I am quite positive that this is an easily explained and peculiar local phenomenon but nonetheless it is what I witnessed.  The sole American car I saw stuck was a Cavalier.
Since we have a child in the house with a potentially fatal food allergy, being able to get her to the hospital as quickly as possible is always something on our minds here so to all of you overpaid, underworked, beer swilling, lazy, greedy, careless, unionized slobs who are building these terribly designed American pieces of junk, I just want to say thank you very much and as long as they continue to meet my needs I will continue to buy them.

Yes, a bit of a rant and a touch of sarcasm but seeing this today made me very happy about the vehicle I was in whether it was an anomoly or not.

Now you next need to turn your DMCL '69 into a 4x4 Jennie Lee,..

That's okay Cody,  it's one of the cars I dream about and with the amount of 69 talk I do on here I imagine a lot of people think thats what I'm driving now.  Besides the 4X4 part is the main point. ;)
You know, I think I vaguely recall seeing a four wheel drive fastback Charger at some point in the past??

You could trade it for a RAV4 or a sidekick.  :nana:

Oddly enough, all of those little runts were hiding in their driveways.

Same storm same observation. My Dodge Durango 4x4 was great today. Went around countless vehicles stuck in the snow. Yes it goes through gas...but it also actually goes to where I want to go and doesn't leave me stranded in the middle of the street.

On a side note, where are the freaking plows!!!!!! Haven't seen one all day. Our street ( a crescent) is unpassable....save for my Dodge  :nana:

BTW...Ghoste you'll appreciate the irony. Guess where we are spending or Christmas this year......Winnipeg! Oh no, the cold and snow here is not good enough.....we are going to the -40 in Winterpeg....Oh joy  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

BigRed66

Hey Ghoste, yup, down here in Nelson Twp. (Garrettsville) it was all ice this morning. Damned if that Jeep Liberty didn't just slog right along on my way to the doctor in Beachwood... My father and I built the hem dies that made your Durango doors, liftgates and hood, there, Don, so you're welcome, too.  :coolgleamA:

On a side note, a guy and I were talking at the clock last night, and he made a rather interesting observation: he (nor I) have ever seen a faggy Ridgeline, Tundra, or Titan, EVER, with a snow plow on them... Just Rams, F-150s, Silverados, and the occasional Jeep.... (Blazers, Broncos, Trail Dusters, and Ramchargers, too...but, those're OLD SCHOOL) The Ridgeline, if you ask me, looks like something a woman would drive...no self-respecting man would go into a Honda dealership and say, Oooooh, I just HAVE to have one of THOSE!!!"  :girlfight: Honda only makes chick vehicles anyhow, so...
what kind of a MAN would drive one?
"...between the velvet lies, there's a truth that's hard as steel..."

Speaking of the mighty Tundra, perhaps the most ironic sight I witnessed today was a later model Ford F-150 two wheel drive pulling a Tundra out of the snow.  :smilielol:  How appropriately did Toyota name that vehicle?

WingCharger

This is a great thread. :2thumbs:

A buddy of mine went to a big car/truck show and drag. A lot of four bangers and front drivers were there, and it rained BAD. He was with his buddy in a '75 Bronco, and made $200 pulling the other cars and trucks out. :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA: :coolgleamA:

Yes, American Trucks Were Made For The American Winter. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

Would this classic Dodge ever get stuck? I really want to find a old Power Wagon to clone into a Macho:

skip68

You would be surprised at how far you can go in the snow if you let some air out of your tires.  :yesnod:  Just something to keep in mind if some of you need some more traction.  :yesnod:

Haha, I live on a crescent as well so I know all about being the last street to get plowed.  My neighbor finally had enough and took his snowblower to the street this afternoon.  And I thought it only worked at 5am.  ::)  It's still nice to have the street cleared though.

You better check, I'm pretty sure Winterpeg is closed until April.

FJMG

Good one Ghoste! Winterpeg, Manisnowba.  Actually the real irony is that quite a few dec. 25 in wpg. get real close to the freezing mark, not sure about this year though? I remember about 15 yrs ago when I was there on dec. 24, there was a thunderstorm.

FLG

Well as usual my 95 4x4 pathfinder has not let me down, not much snow but ive never had a problem with it. Though i would rather have the big 8 cyl dodge or chebby 2500 mom and pops brought to florida, the nissan never has problems.

nh_mopar_fan

I only saw one car off the road in the last 2 days and 180 miles of driving, through the snow, an Accord.  :hah:

Maybe we just know how to drive in the snow better up in NH.  :slap:

pettyfan43

Man we had a freak snow storm here in North Alabama about ten years ago (ANY snowstorm is a freak down here!!!) I spent 4.5 hours trying to get home in my 94 2wd Ram 1500, 318 standard cab pickup!!!! WHY all the damn 4X4s and SUVs (Think Cherokees, Pathfinders and Toyota Land Cruisers) SITTING in the snow and spinning. Me and the ol Ram just drove around them. Then I got in the tracks of a big Dodge Dually 4X4 and cruised home behind him.
