Do you guys like vinyl roofs? Especially on your Charger? I like them but not on my cars. The whole rusty roof issue just isn't for me. ;)

I like them....I put the vinyl roof on our 66 Dart GT years ago...looked good...kind of like a Landau top.....

Our 70 Charger (now a Daytona) had a vinyl roof...I took it off and left it off, but kept the chrome on.....

So of the 9 cars we have....none have the vinyl top, but 3 are convertibles....does that count??

Seems like your poll is a lil' bias...there isn't an option for a plan old "I like vinyl roofs"

mikesbbody

Not a fan of them myself However, a vinyl roof can add a special something to a car that would otherwise be "just" one color if that makes sense?

My car has the original vinyl roof, I will remove it and restore under, but will put it back on again, for me a 2nd gen Charger is more "Charger" with vinyl roof.  :yesnod:

I don't like the rust part but the vinyl is one of the things I like best about my car.

I think the vinyl top is a nice addition to a car from that era as you just don't see them anymore.

What does he have for a vinyl roof that makes it different from the others?

Got any photos?

I think the vinyl roofs look good on A and B bodies but not as nice on E bodies. Same for me with convertibles, nice on the E bodies, not to fond of them on B bodies. I think the roof line is what "makes it" for the B bodies.

I like them for the reasons stated...I also like seeing the cars without them, they are fewer and seem more unique.

I can feel some crunchies under my top and was/am planning to possibly pulling it off this winter to see what I have under it. But, I'm almost 100% positive I'll be putting a new one back on!

Some Chargers look very good with the vinyl roof, some look better without, it depends alot on the color combo.   I do think they look cleaner and sleeker without.

Ya those vinyl tops just add something to a B-body I think, mine came with one and will be put back on.  I've just always liked the look of a b-body with the vinyl, it makes it more unique.

Plus my car will be orange so I have to keep those "you should put an '01' on the side" people at bay

Back N Black

I like the vinyl roof, it classes it up a notch. Like a muscle car in a tuxedo.  :Twocents:

The70RT

I think they look good. I am putting one back on mine.  If you let it set outside all the time then a vinyl isn't a good idea.

Only two of my Chargers did not come with vinyl tops.  Almost all of the second gen Chargers that I have found in my area of the midwest orginally had them, although some were removed later by the owners as they did not like them on the car.  I prefer the vinyl tops if they are in good shape, not so much if they are in tatters (like the remains of one that used to be on my 69 WHS).  Granted, it is a trade off as they tend to trap moisture and lead to further rust repair (more work for me)......

Some colour combos look best with the vinyl roof. However I prefer to go bareback  :coolgleamA:  Less weight....more speed  :scratchchin:

How about, unfortunately, Daytona's and 500's didnt have them. :icon_smile_big:
Well....maybe?

I'm torn. :shruggy:  I always loved them, but my car had it removed when I got it.  It looks good without it so I can't get myself to replace it.  People always tell me how rare an RTSE without the top is anyway, and I just smile away. :D
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
