In regards to size. OE stock 'as delivered' is the main fuel lines on a 440 Daytona  5/16" or 3/8"

I have to double check .But I think 5/16

Are not some 440's 3/8's for whatever reason?

hemigeno

Bill,

These would have come with the 3/8" fuel and 1/4" return lines, same as the Hemi.  That's for the steel lines fastened to the chassis.  I'm not 100% sure that the rubber section going from the end of the fuel line to the fuel pump were the same for 440 & Hemicars...  There was a different part number for the Hemi vs. 383-4/440-4, although the difference might just be in the length.  I'm thinking, though, that the input connections even on the 440 HP fuel pump were 5/16"  --  which sorta defeated the purpose of having 3/8" fuel lines brought to the engine compartment.  That rings a bell though.

Some of that is just going from memory, which is a little suspect these days.

hemigeno

Oh, and '69.5 6-pack cars had a 5/16" chassis (steel) fuel line, since the cars were originally fitted by Hamtramck as if they were 383 cars.

As I recall on the daytona fuel pump it had the casted in fitting with 5/16 KV hose connection.Other pump had the removable brass fitting connection.

I'm not aware of any thing but 5/16" on everything EXCEPT Hemi on 1969 and OLDER. ......  BUT, I've been wrong before

Although 1970 - up - all 440 and Hemi cars were 3/8"

Every 1969 GTX 440 car I've owned had 5/16" main line but a 3/8" sending unit , where as my 1969 hemi runner was 3/8"

Then on my 1970 SUperbee's ( both 440+6 ) were 3/8"

And those 3/8 fuel line cars had the other fuel pump.I think is the #4845

Just 6T9 CHGR

My 69 Charger R/T had 5/16" main line with a 3/8" sender as well.... :Twocents:

I have since upgraded to 3/8" main lines but still retain the 5/16" out of the pump to the carb

I could definitely be wrong.  The original fuel line was still on my Daytona, but I didn't measure it before it was removed.  I'm fairly certain that the rubber was 5/16" though...

The Hemi was defintely 3/8", which isn't what Bill was asking about.

Not much help, am I?

The 69 Charger RT was the daytona baseline car. So it was 5/16 with a 3/8 fuel sender.I got a friend with a beige 68 Charger RT.Who made all the lines end to end 3/8.And car wasnt right afterwards. If you havent got the gears or RPMS up demanding the supply.Or a over kill fuel pump .The volume in the line is not full at all times

I'll check my cars and report. I agree the 69-1/2 had 5/16 steel lines But had the 1/2" sending unit. I used to know all this stuff by heart before my brain transplant.

3-Daytona's original fuel pump has a 5/16 inlet.  he carries it around and I remarked that it was small at the time I saw it.  I didn't look at the chassis lines...i made the assumption that they would match the pump?

birds definitely had a 3/8 line and inlet, 5/16 outlet.

Sorry 3/8"  (Seniors Moment)

Both my Daytonas have a 5/16" fuel line, 1/4" return. 69 440HP fuel pumps have a pressed in inlet nipple (He said nipple) and the threaded fitting for the short line to the vapor sep. 3/8" tank sending unit. Both cars still have their original, date coded pumps. Go figure - I always assumed '69 RB stuff was the same as '70.
