NYC Filming

Hey guys,
I work  in NYC, and on my way to work this morning, I saw that they were filming across the street. I work on wall street, and they do film there quite often, so I usually pay no attention to what's going on. But as I pulled around the corner I see this cherry 69 Chevelle SS sitting there, I thought of you guys, and then I run smack into this beautiful Superbee,(not physically) and an Impala, and two Satellites. I went back out to snap pics as soon as I could, and these were the only ones out at the time. Apparently the show is called Life on Mars, about a cop stuck back in time. I don't know if it's been on yet, but at any rate there will be some cool cars to look at when it is.

Enjoy,
Thad

With a car like that Satellite on a curb in Wall Street, they've gotta be filming something for the time period.  That's not just gonna be a modern-day character with a classic ride.

teamroth

You're right Mike, the gist of the story is something along the lines of the cop goes back in time for whatever reason, and gets stuck there. It's a remake of a british show, where the guy gets hit by a car, and wakes up in 1973. I just looked it up, never saw the pilot which aired in October. wiki...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_on_Mars_(TV_series)

Ran out and grabbed some more a few minutes ago. 69 you are right it is a Coronet, I thought so this morning, but couldn't tell. Notice the missing bee on the stripe and grill.

It's a nice car, but man 85 g's? Not saying it isn't worth it, but that's heavy!

Doesn't the chrome trim on the rear 1/4 panel scallop mean it's a Coronet 500?

Stewart,
you are correct, it says 500 on the side, not sure about the R/T part. Don't know if you guys saw what 6T9 posted. Here's the ad, not sure if you can tell from there. But the owner says 1 of 12 survivng cars.

I could be wrong but i thought the fresh air hood was only avalible on an R/T or Super bee ( no super bee converts avalible)

If you notice the engine pic in the ad there is no under hood ductwork to make the scoops functional.....these are just an add on as I dont believe they were available on the base models just as you suspected

85 THOUSAND DOLLARS?? :o Cripes!

Looks like someone made the seatbacks more "buckety" than they usually are...or am I wrong?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

teamroth

Some good cathes here guys, do you think he is just trying to cash in on the classic car scam? I hadn't noticed the scoops, just the hefty price tag...
I'd rather die than go to heaven.

moparstuart

those cars are extremely rear in a convert , but that is still way over priced .  :Twocents:

That or they just appear incorrect because the head restraints are missing. I'm pretty sure restraints were mandatory for the 1970 model year.

I think we're looking at a different car's front bench seat entirely.  It's just been upholstered to look like the stock one for this car as much as possible.

Sublime/Sixpack

Yes, the closer I look at them its obvious they're not correct!  They almost look like those barrel chairs people bought years ago for their homes.

Brock Samson

'70s jag XJs have seats like that...

teamroth

could they be original, and he just had them customed to his liking, not thinking about resale, but personal preference?  :shruggy: or are they definitely not original?
I'd rather die than go to heaven.

Sublime/Sixpack

Besides the seatbacks not being the correct shape/contour, the dead giveaway that its not a bench seat for a '70 Coronet is the fold down center section.

I've seen that car For Sale for well over a year+.  The price is laughable!!!  :smilielol: Seen it on the show a few times. :popcrn: Still cool to see but very incorrect. :rotz: That particular car is now worth about 185,000 since it's a star!!!

moparstuart

it's back on , the coronet convertible was on tonight again

I saw it too, what a cool show. I think that I may have a crush on the Policewoman named Annie. Ssssh, I don't want the wife to find out. Good thing she's not on the forum too.  :smilielol:
