ok Trav. we need to have alittle talk. This has gone on just too far. It's time for an intervention. All your odd cars, ok, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt, just because your our friend and we like you. But this one is unexcusable. its a suburban that got hit by every branch of the ugly tree when it fell. Sloth from Goonies saw it and ran away screaming. Old ladies and little girls are running and crying yelling "Oh Dear God WHY?!?!?!" IF it was a dog we'd have to shave its butt and make it walk backwards. ok thats enough for now, but just know you have PLENTY more of these left, which will be dolled out when the situation is deemed appropriate.

Now go do 18 bloody marys and hit yourself in the head with a board like the monks on Monty Python and we'll just call it day.

I just hope that our little talk has helped, even in just the slightest way to help you deal with your newly found insanity, which we hope you can find some professional help for. We're all rooting for you here buddy. :2thumbs:

I would have paid a little more and got the H1.   :yesnod:

I'm just wondering, Is is actually a GOOD CAR? or is it just an icon?

mikepmcs

Actually it's a great vehicle and you can push in the 14.5 mpg range if your nice to it(even though it's rated at less) It's a sweet luxury ride at an affordable cost if you get one a few years old.  I had an 03' and thought it was awesome.  I got rid of it for my 1ton for two reasons. The payments were in the high 5's and I was retiring(had to get back to reality) and I needed a better trailer hauler.  The concept is built loosely on a chevy truck, it shares with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. The frame assembly is made up of 3 sections, the front uses a GM 3/4 ton frame, the mid-section is all new and is completely boxed, and the rear section uses a GM 1/2 ton upgraded for the 8000+GVW.

You can't find a nicer more stable(due to the wide a$$ track/footprint this monster has.)  Talk about an acoustic platform too, I left the killer bose system right in tact and tapped a line out converter and hooked up some alpine subs and here comes the boom.

I'm trying to get a  new job right now at the Togus VA.  If I land it, I will be getting another Hummer H2(a few years old for sure)  No sense paying the exorbitant amount for a new one when they are all basically the same from 03 with minor changes. 2008 being the biggest minor changes if that makes sense.(how's that for an oxymoron)  I've been tracking them on ebay now for about 2 weeks.
I used to get flipped off daily driving that thing around granola central(maine).  Funny thing is, I got better gas mileage in that than I do my dually and I have yet to see anyone get angry at me for driving that truck.. It's all perception.  The H2 is a very well kept secret IMHO.  Best SUV for the money(used) on the market today, period!!!

Enjoy it Travis, I know I sure miss mine. Yellow was my color of choice as well. :2thumbs:

If you look in my avatar, you can see the beast with the trailer hooked to it .  I had just returned from a very long turnaround trip, to pick up my Charger, from Maine to Tennessee and back, only stopping for gas.   The H2 did very well for the weight I was hauling and I averaged over about 8mpg on the way back.

Pocket Thunder,
You wouldn't have paid a little more for an H1 by the way, you would have paid about 3+ times more depending on the model you chose.  I wouldn't mind an H1 either(if I won the lotto), but the H2 is more practical for everyday use. IMO.

Those aren't my kids BTW, i'm kidless, wifeless, and GF less. and whatta you know.... I spend less.

Okay, I'll be the one to say it - I think those things are poser SUVs.

Nothing really wrong with H2s, but aren't they're basically Chevy Tahoes with trendy bodywork?

Trav, I'm not sure you fit the profile for that thing. I know a guy who had one just like it, same yellow, and he asked me what I thought. I had to be honest, regardless of how good they may or may not be they scream out "I am a dick" which may not be what you are going for.

I think certain vehicles get a rep....the Hummer say's I'm an ass^%#$ and I fart in your general direction. It is what it is. It would be real fun to drive though....blasting out Dennis Leary's song "I'm an asshole". I think they are pretty neat vehicles....just couldn't handle the personality baggage it brings.

More than a few people might make those same assumptions about you for driving a vintage Dodge Charger. Plenty of people still put a restored '68-72 musclecar in the same mental category as a Joe Dirt Edition 1979 Firebird in two-tone primer.

I have to admit I kinda dig the H2. I just did some graphics for one last week, and got a chance to see it up close. This one was completely tricked out, black with leather and chrome wheels. However, if I had unlimited coin and wanted to overcompensate, I'd buy one of these......an International CXT.  :drool5: Suck my carbon footprint!  :nana:

Nothin' says "Look at me" more than a yellow Hummer.  At least that's what my Doctor says.  He has a yellow one too and has had to have it detailed more than a few times from tree huggers pouring coffee or whatever on it.  He says they leave nasty notes on it and everything.

Gotta love the NW.

haha no trade in. they wanted to give me chump change for an 08 "charger" with 4k miles on it. i just paid cash for the hummer. wife drives it more than me, and guys, i had the same "i'm an asshole" view of them as well for people that had one. but i swear it is the best newer vehicle i have ever owned. bar none. sure gas mileage is average(11-12 so far average). but it has dual DVD players, playstation 2, heater leather seats row 1 AND 2, 6 disc changer, the biggest moonroof i've ever seen, tons of room, 35" tires STOCK, it really rides smooth too, it's pretty unbelievable that a vehicle like that with decent miles can be had under $20k. no way do i think they are worth the 60-70k new they go for, but they lose resale value extremely fast first few years, which was good for us.

miked.. not sure how it is a POSER SUV, sure some interior features are similar to a tahoe.. but have you actually DRIVEN one? or been to the dealership and ran their little course to see what they are capable of? it's very impressive for a stock vehicle. the only poser part about the vehicle is the class of people typically found driving them. which in turn gives them an unnecessary bad rap..

moparguy01, thanks for the "talk" it has helped and i will try to correct my ways in the future. i know i have gone off the deep end, and i doubt my path can be fixed now. it's too late. but keep me in your thoughts. :)

few weeks in, still loving this hummer. for REAL.

Would you like me to send you these inserts for your rear bumper cover.  I was cleaning out the basement and found them in the original envelope from when I bought them off ebay.  They are vinyl stickers so I don't know how good they will adhere to that dulso coated bumper, but they are free to try if you would like and the right color.

It might be a decent vehicle, but I never liked them. (No offense, Travis) I do like the original Hummers, the military style ones are cool. I remember the first time I saw one on a highway from behind & was thinking, "What the hell is that wide thing way ahead?" When I caught up, it turned out to be an all black, civilian model, & I thought it was one of the coolest things I had seen in ages. When they came out with the H2 & the H3's I thought they looked like toys.

If I had a chance to get one really cheap & needed it, I guess I'd buy it. I also think the 2004 Dodge Ram I have is pretty ugly, but I didn't buy it for looks.

I don't, but our neighbor's son does.  He bought a white 2005 H2 (pickup version) this summer after trading in a very nice customized pickup truck as a downpayment on it.  Shortly after he got it, he took it to a local body shop and had them Rhino-line the bottem 1/3 of it (from the inclused line on the lower part of the doors down), using white and black liner to match the orginal paint.  The first time he picked it up from them, the shop had forgot to totally clean out the air lines and a bit of leftover red paint ended up in the white liner, so the sides showed a pink tint to them in the sun. :slap: :smilielol:  You could say he got his fair share of ribbing from me. :icon_smile_blackeye:   He is thinking of getting the entire outside of it in the same stuff to prevent hail damage during the spring/summer storm season.  To me, it is too much of a show-off piece.  I would prefer something a bit more incogeto than that thing, too much of a ticket/theft target......
