:yesnod:  good pictures  ..would love to hear the 70 roadrunner story  sometime   :popcrn:

Part 1.

It was a August, 17 2002, Me and a friend drove to Idaho Falls to look for cars. When we arrived, we met another one of my friends and went searching. We looked around a bit and my friend Brian told me of an old wrecking yard he knew of in Mud Lake. He told me that there was a green 70 coronet 440 4dr in there that had a nice pass side fender. I needed one for my 70 Coronet 500 2dr. So we decided to cruise up there and take a look. Mud Lake is about an hour from Idaho Falls. So we arrive at this yard out in the middle of no-where. There is nothing around but fields for miles. So we walk out there and start looking around. There is a ton of GM stuff, Camaro's, Firebirds, Etc... I don't care for GM's. Finely I see the 70 coronet. We go and look at it and sure enough, the fender is nice. (much better than the one I had)  The whole front clip is nice. After looking at it for a few minutes, we carry on. As we are walking through, I see some Yellow through a window of a car. Hmm I think. So I climb over a car and there is a top banana 70 Road Runner. I think to myself. That's too bad. A 70 runner just sitting here rotting away. Then I walk over and see that it was a 4spd car. That's real sad. I notice that the tick-toc-tach is still in it though. I look at the fender tag and it has a N96 on it. Damn! An air grabber car. RM21R0G... Wait! What's R?  HMMM.  N is 383, V is 440+6 OMG!!! THIS IS A HEMI CAR! No way. So I call Brian over and we start looking at it. Neither of us can believe it. Mean while my other friend Trevor is asking us if this car over here is a pinto. I tell him to shut the f up and come check this out (He's not a car guy). Well I didn't have my camera. So we hop in my truck and drive 10 miles to Mud Lake and go to this shoddy little convenience store. $22 for a disposable camera? I don't care, I have to have it. We cruise back out there and take the pics you see on here plus pics of the green 70 Coronet. I wish I would have taken more. After we look at it some more and finely leave, I am asking Brian for the guys number. He gives it to me but tells me that no-one has ever been able to get him home. I am going to try anyway. There is a HEMI runner out there. So a few Hours later I get back here to Logan.....

That's all for tonight.

There's no way I could remember all the cars and trucks that I've owned.  :o By the time I was 24, I had owned 30 cars. That was 27 years ago, almost 28. I still have 10 right now, with only one that will not start and drive and that is my 68 Charger. A couple of them haven't ran in a while so they may not start very easily. I have a stack of titles for cars that I bought, drove home and then parted out and scrapped.

I hear ya. I use to part cars out and fix them up and sold them at my old house. I had at least 5 all the time to part. I was bored one day and counted around 500. Mostly mopars. I currently have 9 and a couple are for parts. I have slowed up on that. I think i only had like maybe a half dozen that I either sold or scrapped this year. There is a few other threads on here similar to this one.

Part 2

When I get home, it is late. So I went to bed. The next morning I wake up early as I have to meet another friend and take him over to Neil's (musclecarprojects.com). I am also dropping the 66 Coronet  that I just drug home from IF off there. I start telling them that I had found a 70 HEMI runner up there. Neither of them can really believe it. I don't really blame them either.  So we leave Neil's and decide to go have breakfast. On our way to breakfast, we stop at the one hour photo to get the pics developed. Once we get to breakfast, me and Jim are talking about the car, He asks how many HEMI cars this is that I have found now. I tell him two. He asks how old I am. I tell him 19. He jokingly punches me in the shoulder and says, "You have found two HEMI cars and your 19. I have found none and I am 50!" It was pretty funny to me. After a while we go and get the pics and I give him a copy and we part ways.
Around noone, I get home and go to call the guy that owns the cars. I call up there and his wife answers;
She tells me that he is not home. I tell her that I found his wrecking yard and there are a few cars I would like to buy. She then tells me to wait just a second and she will go get him.  HUH! He wasn't home just a second ago. So we start talking and I ask him about the 70 coronet. He tells me $100. Then I tell him there is a 70 road runner on the other side of the yard and tell him it's pretty bad. He says he know the one and tells me $50. The butterflies are going crazy in my stomach. I set up a time to go meet him the next week end. I can't wait.

That's it for right now. Got to get ready for school. The best is still to come.

I am so excited. So I call my friend Brian up in Idaho and tell him I got a-hold of him. He couldn't believe it. He wanted some suspension parts off of the coronet so we work it out so he pays half of the coronet. So we set up the time to meet on the following Friday. During the week, I tell a few people I know about the car. One being Joe Rubel? In West Virginia. I didn't really think anything about it.

The Following Friday, I head to Idaho Falls. I go to my friend Tom's and we get everything set up. Once that is done, we all just hang out and drink a few. I am very anxious for the next morning.

At around six the next morning, Me, Tom, Colby, and Kenny all meet Brian and two of his buddies to go get the cars. We have to be out there and meet the owner at 7:30. We all cruise up there. It is a long drive. One reason being that it is just a super long drive and the other because I am excited. I can't wait. Once we pull in, the guy is sitting there in his truck. I give him $150.00 and he drives away. He didn't stick around for even a minute.  Brian and his buddies go over to the coronet to load it up and the rest of us go over to move cars out of the way to get the road runner. We had to move 4 or 5 cars. Once we got it to where I could get the trailer to it, we start lifting the car to get it on the trailer. Three of us and two handy man jack seriously put the car on the trailer. There was very little weight. I wish I would have had my camera. I don't know what I was thinking. Once the car was on the trailer, I had to try and find places to tie it down. There was nothing on the rear. It was all tied down in the front.  After it was loaded. I shot back down here to Logan. I got back at about 2:00pm. My parents couldn't believe I would even drag something like that home. I told them to watch, I would make lots of money on it. My Mom just rolled her eyes and laughed.

More tomorrow.
