Lets all be ambiguous, huh?

Wasn't trying to be ambiguous, but just stating where the car wound up. Although I'm about 99% sure it has left the place that Doug works at, and has found a new home now.

Hey guess what, I think I found it tucked away in the woods.  :woohoo:

Yes I am the lucky owner of the car that Al did such a great job with. I have known about this C500 about 7 or so years going back to when it was still in California. I missed my first opportunity to get her back then so once I had found out that Al had it then we began to talk about the possibility of me buying the car. Long story short is that I finally have her and at the same time have developed a new friendship with Al along the way. He has been great, and has shared alot of info. and stories. He was able to put me in touch with the original owner in CA. who also deserves much credit for preserving the paperwork and keeping it with the car. As you may already have heard or seen this C500 is one of the most documentated Charger 500's as well as muscle cars in general. It has three nice build sheets, an Advanced Dealer Shipping Notice, original Window Sticker, Shipper from Hamtramck plant to Creative Industries, original Dealer Order Sheet and Invoice, original owners loan papers, registrations, repair or replacement part receipts, and even the original California black plate. Besides the beauty and the rarity of this C500 the paperwork was a real a motivator for me to have this car. I have been a big fan of the Charger 500 since I had my first encounter back in the mid 80's. I almost bought a 4-spd B5 blue one and have always kicked myself for it but now I feel much better about the whole thing.

....Or 68 Hemi Charger got the wing....

  Dave,   you always get the "68" and "Hemi" backwards... But, we know what you mean...... I only wish I owned Steve's Daytona.......  I too have the fortune of getting to know Steve over the past couple of years and more recently, Al during his restoration process... Nice to know I had a "little" to do with it....... It's an amazing  C500 to say the least..... I'm afraid if Steve's C500 and Dana ever get together, Dana's going to get an inferior complex...  :icon_smile_big:

Hiya back Troy, hope all is well with you guys out there in the big State of Texas. Thanks for the compliment on my ride,  but you know how much I like Dana so I don't think that is an issue. Knowing how good of a person you are as well as your knowledge and love for these great cars, I'm glad to know that you had a hand in helping Al with the restoration.

I think we have all said this before but is amazing how these awesome cars have helped us develop great friendships over the years. Here's to many more

At this time I would like to wish all a great and safe holiday season, take care and enjoy everyone.

P.S.Now for the big question, is it Spring yet? :drive:

69_500

Nope not spring yet, but who is waiting on spring? I'm counting down the days to Talladega next fall.

Way to go Steve
I'm glad to see that a real enthusiast bought the car.  Many years of enjoyment to you!

Thanks Dave, I sent you a PM earlier.

Thanks alot Chris, it's not a Hemi but we all no how powerful a 440 is and it's got the right stuff to boot. I would still love to have yours though. How's the 68 doing, any recent pics?

Danny, I here you on the T-Dega show. Is it October 2009 yet? Of course I am not in any hurry to give up the summer of 2009. Spoken like a true resident of the "Great White North", right. Let me know when you guys are coming up this way and maybe you can stop by.

Steve,
pm me and I'll send you some pics of the 68 hemi charger.  It is pretty cool! If it was an aero car I'd post them here but I don't want to ruffle any feathers!

69_500

I don't think too many feathers would be ruffled by seeing pictures of a 68 HEMI Charger. I mean Troy does it all the time.  ;)

Not sure how much help I actually was. By the time I started talking to you about the car, it was already looking darn good. And if you show up at Talladega next fall, I'll make sure to chit chat with ya.

are you keeping the woodgrain wheel on it?

Your Daytona might get farmed out to a body shop we're familiar with in WIS...  I really, really wanted a hand in that!

WINGR

Hey Doug, how are you doing? Yes I am probably going to keep the woodgrain wheel on her because I have always liked them. If I would have had the extra money I would have put one on the Daytona too. Of course I will keep the original wheel in case I decide to switch it out later.

That's too bad that they might farm out my old car, I was hoping that you would be a involved in finishing her up. You know that car will always have a special place in my heart, who knows maybe someday I will have the opportunity to buy it back. Here's the part where I need to win the lottery, then I could buy the orange Hemi Daytona also.

Please tell your Mom that we wish her a Merry Christmas as well. Hope you guys have a very safe and great holiday.

Hi Clan500,

What are the actual dates of the 09-Dega Show???

Will do my best to get there from England!

By that time there should be plenty of cheap Wingcars up for grabs? (credit crunch).

It will be my twenty year anniversary of nearly buying a "Uk based" Petty blue Bird, and a Daytona from Galen!

The Uk Bird was £6000 and the Daytona was $5000.(1989 prices)

Will those days ever return???

I hope so, as all Moparnuts should have owned at least one Wingcar!!!

Evenso, the C500's are much rarer and less "GAWDY", in the words of the "KING" Richard!!!

Happy Christmas Clan500, from 500Jon.

The $5000 Daytona? I don't think so........ Maybe when they become lawn-art..........

I don't think we will ever see the $5,000 prices on DAytona's again. Then again stranger things have happened before. I think that we might see the days of a $50K daytona again in the next 2 decades.

als500

I think you're right about $50.000 but I think we will see it about 7 to 10 year. The same thing happen to corvette about 7 years ago, once that baby boomer start to unload the cars the prices sink quickly. I hope that I'm wrong about this.  :icon_smile_cool:

pettybird

the only vettes we sell for under 50 grand are C3's and newer, and even then we're still getting good money for them.  besides--vettes suck

exotics went down in the 90's but have rebounded back over their previous level.

I don't think we'll see the stupid growth we went through a couple years ago but the cars will always go up.

the other problem with the 50k in 20 years idea is inflation.  we'll be lucky if 50 grand buys us a tank of gas in 20 years!

Speaking of inflation, did anyone else buy a 100 BILLION DOLLAR bill from Zimbabwe?  I bought a couple on eBay for like $8 delivered.  when printed they would buy three eggs at a farmer's market  :icon_smile_shock:

Hi Aero-Folks.

Galen had 3 Daytona's advertised in Hemmings Mag. back in 1990.
They were $15K, $10K, $5K!
I had the money to buy one and by the time i spoke to him, the $5K was the only one left.
During the conversation he realised I was a 'Limey' and refused to sell to me???
I have met him a few times at Vegas and Spring Fling LA and felt like giving him a verbal thrashing!!!
He UPSET ME FOR YEARS, his refusal to sell to me?

But God rewarded me in the the end, with a 4-speed C500, WHOOPEE!!! :nana:

Much rarer and MUCH more pratical to drive on the STREET!!! :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

Would love to build a Nascar Daytona before I die, or buy one already done if my numbers come up! :2thumbs:

Thanx XX29.

Must be a 'LIMEY' thing with Galen??? :'(
I've worked on alot of Wingcars in the last ten years.
In a strange way I'm glad I never bought one.
They are a wonderful sight to behold, but not I feel, right for a UK road!
Even the 'King' said they were tooo 'Gawdy' for the street.(SuperBird).
The C500's were always a great idea, its just the Fords were better on the day.
We all know they cheated and remodelled the rockers for lower ground-clearance!
If Mother-Mopar had done some cheating too then the C500 may have won?
Then the Daytona wouldn't exist, not sure if the 'King' would have drove a C500?
If he did drive a succesful Runner in 68 then the Superbird may have not been invented either LoL!

The rest is history 500Jon
