hmmmmm not sure.. i would like to think 69 daytona and 500 but i dont know if their prices have increased dramatically... i would say any 57-61 chrysler with a hemi or long ram system has gone up a lot.. but... who knows?
67 Plymouth Barracuda, 69 Plymouth Barracuda, 73 Charger SE, 75 D100, 80 Sno-Commander

Very interesting, while all those cars are awefully rare and rare combonations to boot... the charger r/t is really pretty garden variety in comparson to judge and hemi cuda converts and LS-6s and RS SSs and the original cobra and such.... Allot of '69 R/Ts got made...
it's not like they specified R/T SEs or Hemi R/Ts or the 500/Daytona as mentioned...
to be number two on that list is actually quite amazing...
was any criteria listed?..
anyone got old kelly blue books to compare to?.

Red Ram

Hmmm... they lump the SS and Z-28 together. I'd think the z-28 has probably shot up quicker than the SS.  :shruggy: Unless they mean Z-28/RS.

I kinda suprises me the list carries 2 mopars on top...

I always tought that a 69 Camaro Z28 or a Mustang fastback GT500 would be more poular than the Charger R/T.
However, that does'nt mean I'm not pleased with the outcome of this list. Makes our Mopars even more desired by others.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

If the list is based on "price increase", it then says nothing about overall popularity.  Those cars that were already at the leading edge of the 2005 musclecar market might not rank as high if their price delta (change) is not as high as these cars.  It just means that for the most part, collectors turned their attention to other models, thereby increasing the demand (and resulting price) for those cars.

The only reason that Hemi anything made the list is because of the absolutely silly money that collectors were continuing to throw at the few ragtop Hemi E-bodies out there.  Most everything else was not far from its peak in 2005.  Personally, I consider Barrett-Jackson 2006 to be the highwater mark, but that's just my opinion.  It's mostly gone downhill from there for most marques.

You're pretty much spot on Geno.  That's when the circus fever seemed to hit everyone with even a remote interest in cars and reinforce the public opinion that anything old was gold.  Since then, a lot of would be flippers have gotten a hard education in collector car values even though the finest cars are still seen as the investment grade pieces which they are.  As far as those book values, I have always found them to be notoriously unreliable.  When it was a relativel stable hobby interst, they were pretty close but when things went wild, they were either behind the trend or too far ahead in their predictions to be taken serious.  They are a tool and a guide but they are by no means a factual bible.  You still need to know the cars that interest you and how to sort the good from the bad.
