Finishing the suspension then some body work.

Can you tell me what/how you did your wheel wells? Looks like you got good protection in your wheel wells.

It's from Ricks Resto but I have been told you can use 3M and get the same results and it is local. This stuff seems to dry pretty hard compared to the factory stuff.

Thats what I have been thinking on...Id like to finally finish the bodywork on the 69. Winter is the only time I get to work on the 69, because I usually don't work overtime in the winter, dont have to worry about yard work, etc. and the kids don't have there extra ciricular activities during the winter. I was just looking at photos and I accomplished alot last winter on the 69, but haven't touched it since the end of Feb, first of March. I have been planning and working on my budget....look foward to getting started.

What I'd like to do to my Duster....

Engine/Drivetrain/Suspension
-Pull it and paint it
-Paint and install the M/T valve covers I got from Mark (dads_69)
-Put a new 4bbl carb and manifold on it
-Do something with the headers (paint or something)
-New belts and ignition wires
-New and better coil
-Brand new starter (I have the old one with a cheap rebuild in right now)
-All new wiring through-out the whole car
-New ignition switch possibly
-Get either a new wiper motor or get the old one rebuilt
-New shocks all the way around and new bushings

Exterior/Body
-Paint the engine compartment
-Put the nicer front bumper on and grille in
-Get new tires and finally mount my freshly painted Rallyes
-Get and install a passenger side mirror
-Install hood pins
-New weatherstripping and seals

Interior

-New carpet
-New headliner
-Install sound deadener
-Paint the dash black and get a new dash pad
-Install my Tuff wheel I got from Kevin (dkn1997)

Now with the Charger, I plan on buying all the sheetmetal I need for it :2thumbs:

I am glad I didn't respond back when the thread was started....because I got nuthin' done at all. I did manage to get my new exhaust manifolds on about a month ago though.

This year will probably be the start of the '68 teardown unless I don't get my Jeep Cherokee project done.

I should be fixing the rear main seal, and painting the trunk, but I may do nothing more than park it in it's Air Chamber and take it out once a month.

We have mild, short winters in Atlanta so I plan on driving it like normal but without sweating balls. :2thumbs:

I hope to get some new upper door pads, have my instrument cluster and all dash plastic chrome redone. I havent done anything significant in quite a while to it, seems like other life issues always come up and it isnt easy thats for sure.

This weekend the Belvedere is going to friends house so the last few wires and such can be completed. Will have it showing, most likely, at Garlits. My Charger is going into the garage here to be gone over and wait for a spot to be media blasted and metal work. Once that's done primer to protect. Then somehow I have to find the money to paint my baby! Since we have mild winters in NW FL it won't be bad working in the garage. All the seats need to be cleaned past what I've done already. Only washed with mild soap and water and so far have only found a few stressed pieces. Will be using a cleaner on them and then treating to keep supple. Man does this car have chrome! Not looking forward to that stage!

Well, since I drove down to Carlisle with the 4.10 gears in an 8.75 axle, and that wasn't too much fun, I've just picked up a dana 60 with 3.54 gears which I'm swapping in instead. Then I'm going to get the guages working properly. I'm also helping my son with his project 69 amc amx, 390 four speed. gerry
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

It's not even Fall yet ? :shruggy:

Yeah, this thread is starting on season #2.

I was originally going to finally build my big block stroker since jegs had the Victor heads so cheap. A few days after placing my order, they told me it was a mistake and they wouldn't honor the posted price (see pic #1).
After that let down, I decided that I'm going to replace all the rotten sheetmetal, which includes both quarters, trunk floor, full floors, and rockers. I may find more during the teardown (which started today). I'm also going to install subframe connectors and torque boxes, and finally paint. I just got my new Millermatic 211 welder and I'm anxious to use it.
The stroker build would have been alot cheaper, but the 440 in it now only has 32,000 miles (I rebuilt it 7 years ago) and has proven very reliable, so this is for the best since I have been meaning to do the bodywork for several years.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

I had my dash chrome redone at Chrome tech USA.  The price was good and the job was done excellent.  Better than the repro dash pieces.

Lets see...on the '68 add a reverse indicator light, find the short in the dash that has left me gaugeless, install an RTE limiter, change the oil and filter, install the rebuilt brake booster (by Dewey), fix (or rather plug the "cheater" holes) in the recently purchased correct air cleaner assembly (see photo below), have the steering wheel rebuilt (probably by stwheels), switch tires from the fronts of my '73 to the back of the '68 (better stance on both) and install a recently purchased and rebuilt 043 radiator. Oh, and drive the car at least once a week.  :D  If I get 3 of these task done I'll be happy....

On the '73 fix the A/C (much smaller list!) and drive it every other week (the '68 does have the 4-speed, after all....).

You have to love the California weather....

Dan

P.S. If Santa comes through I'll be getting a Brewers Performance modified Hurst Shifter for my Inland handle. http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?id=50 and maybe get that in also.  :2thumbs:

Hmm, brewers performance modified hurst shifter for your inland handle...

Santa seems to have a pretty good knowledge of classic cars to be able to make that exact item.  So what will you be getting him?

When I was younger I wouldn't bother writing early enough, and santa would already of made me something by the time I chimed in during early December.

I remember seeing that  :brickwall: I figured it had to be a mistake.....I cant believe they didn't catch that before they shipped. I would have bought more than 1 set.
