Addco Rear Sway Bar - HELP!

Has anyone installed a rear Addco sway bar? I don't see anyway it will work. If I force the bracket up to the frame it puts the link in an angle. I moved the sway bar as much forward as I can and the swaybar is touching the rear housing.  :RantExplode

I have an addco rear bar.I took a measurement the link rod is 6 inches long and the metal spacer sleeve is 1.5 inches long.I think you have the wrong rod length or the bar is to short and needs to be longer to bring it closer to the rear frame rail.

My link bolts are 6" long too. Yeah, the bar needs to have longer arms  :shruggy:. Maybe they sent the wrong one. I originally left out the square piece that locks the bracket to the housing. I put it on and now It even fits worse. The diagram in the directions I have shows the flat part flat against the housing, I have like 3/4" gap. For that to happen it would have to slide between the u-bolts and the housing ....and that can't happen. I just test fited without the flat stock this time because the u-bolts seemed too short. I guess I will send it back. It's not like I haven't sent a bunch of parts back already that were inferior of didn't fit  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

fitted  a Addco 7/8" bar on rear of mine a few years ago !! make sure the bar is dead level running parrel with the leaf spring ... can't quite remember what i done ..mine was similar , but think i used a longer sleeve , as the ones i got in the poly bush pack was too short , so used the one from the rubber oem bush kit ..that was also in the sway bar box as i opted for poly bushes & both came in the box .
if no one posts a picture ...i'll take one tomorrow  :yesnod:
i'll measure the arms of the bar also

Thanks. If I make the bar parral to the spring I am way off. Like Downunder was saying it looks like the links are too short or maybe they gave me the wrong bar. This the 3/4" bar.

Hey your second pic is differant to mine. The diff housig attachment.I have the u bolt coming down from the top.
then a flat piece of steel runs across the bottom of the housing with two holes that go through the u bolt.
Then the sway bar bush with bar inserted, last the caping for the bush.the bar on mine sits a lot closer to the bottom of the diff housing. It looks like this is where they sent out the wrong parts.
The top edge of my bar insalled is 15mm from the diff housing mesured from beside the u bolt bracket.

The70RT

I left the flat piece out in the last pic because the ubolts seemed too short. Here is the diagram they sent me. It looks like the frame has a different curve and that is what my problem seems to be. My bar does seem to be up higher that the diagram pic.

The arms on my bar are aprox 11 inches long taken from a straight edge, from the bar that runs across the rear of the housing to the very end tip  of the bar.

I used that same bar set-up on my Charger and I dont recall any problems with it , allthough mine has a Dana60 ( I would think that would make it more trouble than less) I will run over to the shed and see If I can get some shots>.......

It looks right i took my measurment from the out side of the bar.
You dont have lowering blocks on your rear springs.?

that metal C shaped bracket should go round the axle !  by the time you tighted it up will move the bar closer to the frame , tighten a little at a time , a couple of truns each side  at a time , that will then pull the bracket around the axle tube .

Here is the only decent Picture I could get.....

By the way is the suspension "hanging"?? Or is it sitting on the jack stands?

I am wondering this too as should that axle not be sitting a bit higher or to me seems to not have the full car weight on it? :scratchchin:

Good point

The suspension has to be loaded with the weight of the car sitting on the axle tube to install the upper brackets and connect the links. I helped Kamkuda install one of these on his car this past summer....nice piece and works great.  :2thumbs:

Ok. I guess I will have to wait and get the car more together or put it on after the car is done. I should have thought about it more before posting.  :slap: Sorry guys.

I might be a little late to the party, but since you asked for pics, I'll post them.
I don't remember exactly how I installed it, but I remember I had no problems.

Let me know if you want some more detailed ones, these are old pics.

Those are great guys. I apreaciate the help and the trouble you went thru to get the pics. My car is on jackstands but is bare. It looks like mine will work after all. Unless I can get the wife and kids to get in the trunk I will have to wait. It's not like I haven't got anything else to do on it.
