I was going to make a smartass comment about 1st gens and the fastback styling being all about high speed cruising but then I realized that your question deserves a better answer than that.  I find it kind of interesting, anyone know the reason for the 2:94 to 3:23 switch?

:haha: ......  :nana: .......    ...... funny you say that !!  i thought something similar  at first ;) first generation cutting through the wind better  :yesnod:
getting a bit side tracked now but
odd though even Daytonas & C500s were not offered  2:94 .... 2:76 ..which i would of thought  more fitting than .... having an options of  3:54 ..3:55 ...3:91 .....4:10   seeing as they were marketed towards top end , as apposed to 1/4 mile  ....... something to do with pasanger car tire technology aback in the day  :-\ :shruggy:............. :popcrn:

That makes more sense.  It's also worth remembering that Dodge was still a little unsure of how to market the Charger in 1967.  It was part luxury car, part sporty car, part family car.  They had only gotten into the "letter" supercars that same year with the Coronet RT so I think they kind of didn't understand the whole street supercar market yet.  They had race cars in showrooms for years from Chrysler so why would people want to buy cars that were more about looking fast?  That is what I think may have been the question of the day anyhow.

"This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold..." -- Numbers 7:84 KJV

And on another page, speaking about the console clock, it says "The clock automatically adjusts itself whenever it becomes necessary for the hands to be reset to the correct time."

What does that mean? I never thought of it being automatically adjusting, no GPS back in those days.

I remember reading elsewhere about the '68-70 clocks that if you adjusted the car's clock to advance the time, it would speed the car's clock up just a bit to compensate.  If you adjusted the clock to move the hands back, it would slow the car's clock up a little.  As you repeatedly adjusted the clock to the correct time it would theoretically (eventually) be internally adjusted to keep perfect time.  I guess that was their idea of "automatic".   ::)
