Was anyone at the Chrysler Classic event at Norwalk in September?

The reason I ask is concerning the 64 Plymouth lightweight that was wrecked.  There is an article in MCG about the car and some pics but there is a story floating around about it as well.  The rumor is that the run before the Plymouth flipped, somebody oiled down his lane but because it was 2am he didn't know that until he hit the oil.  Apparently it was at the fast end of the track and the guy who was supposed to be down there watching for that kind of thing had allegedly gone home already.  Any truth to this?

According to "them" whoever "they" are, the guy left without telling anyone so the starter was just firing the next round of cars down without knowing but thinking everything was okay.

I was there. It had rained all day friday and stopped around 3:30pm saturday. The track crew had been up for 2 days so a few went home. They raced all night except for a break from 4 to 7 or something like that so they could take a nap. There was a car that smoked all the way down the track on the previous run. Then next race, the lightweight car crossed the finish line full throttle and instantly made a hard turn into the wall, flipped several times. Looked like when you crush one at the junk yard, real shame, I felt sorry for the old guy driving it.

You didn't hear any tales going around the pits though about no spotters at the far end?

From what I could see the spotters were there, they just missed the oildown.
