Hi I'm about to buy a truckload of parts for my 69 Charger restoration, and would like to know your opinion on where to buy parts who have the best prices compared to quality and who have the most parts so i dont have to buy from to many different places.
I'm thinking Year one their prices are little higher but they give pretty good discounts the more you buy.
It also have to be a on line shop because i am from Denmark and have to buy on the internet.
Let me hear where you guys in here think i should go :icon_smile_question:.

Thanks Mike.

Id get all your sheet metal from AMD (Auto metal direct)

So far it seems there stuff is top quality and the few people who have had some issues (hey it happens) have been pleased with the way they handled it.

Dreyer

Thanks but sheet metal is about the only thing i already bought from AMD actually.
But i agree its nice quality and good service

FLG

cool

Well what are you looking to get?  ;D

That will give us an idea of what vendors to send you too.

Well i need a lot of interior parts, seat covers, headliner floormat, and so on. i also have to get parts for suspension rearend and steering.
and then i need all kinds of clips for mouldings and other small things all the way around the car.

Legendary Auto Interiors for the seat foams, seat covers, and all other interior items of this type.  Look at BEA Mopar for lots of good parts including the dash pad if needed and the upper door pads front and rear as well as seat belts.  RT Specialties has a lot of stuff.  AM High Tech Auto is a good place.  He is a member on here and I highly recommend him.  Moog for all the suspension stuff on the front end.  Rock Auto handles their line.  Mopar Performance parts is a good place to get quite a few items.  Look at the Mopartsracing website for this stuff.  They are over in North Carolina.  They handle other lines too.  I have bought from them and can recommend them. Firm Feel for the steering box.  These are all the places I can think of right now.  Timken bearings available from AutoZone.

Year One is good too depending if they have a discount going on.  Some of their items are pretty pricy but their catalog is real handy and I have probably bought a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff from them.

Stay way away from Layson's.

I've been very happy with Paddock. they have an excellent selection, you can get discount shipping. I've only used other companies when they didn't have the item I needed in stock. http://www.paddockparts.com/Paddock/dept.asp?dept_id=4

Since I've spent about $15K in parts for my "70 and "72 I consider myself an expert, please...allow me to share what I've learned:
-Most of the parts only come from one source..two at the most, for example, Legendary makes 90% of all seat covers and door panels and EVERYbody sells them...sometime for less then Legendary!  So really you're looking for price, availability and SHIPPING costs.
- Most of the time prices from all the catalog's are close, I've found Year One consistently 15-20% higher than others on EVERYTHING, only time I've bought through them is if is impossible to get it from anywhere else.

I've bought from all these places, my rankings:
- Paddock - Best
- Herbs - Good, less parts than paddock, nice people
- Year One - Most Expensive but a  pretty catalog
- 440 Source - Best deal on engine parts
- Dante's - Bought some stuff at a show from them - seemed good
- Phoenix Graphics - OK
- Mancini racing - Very good. Mostly engine stuff but they have a suprising amount of restoration stuff
- Auto medic supply - Bumpers, good price, I'm happy
- Northland Fasteners - Good source of weird clips and fasteners
- Car steering wholesale - Steering box, good!

Hope that helps

I like to buy repo parts from Adealsap, they are usually a few bucks cheaper than most venders, reasonable shipping and I have always received my parts quickly (Im in Alabama and I think they are in Ohio). They have an eBay store, here's the link... http://stores.ebay.com/ADEALS-Top-Quality-Fast-Service_W0QQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

Phone Number  1-866-850-5465 (9-5 Monday-Friday)
Web Site (not eBay store)  http://www.adealsauto.com/index.html

Year One is the most expensive, so I stay away from them, I like Paddock and have used them some. Stay away from Stephens Performance, I live about 10 minutes away, his prices are rediculous and he's a grade A a$$hole too.

Good luck on you project,
Jason

Hello Mike, beeing from Belgium/Sweden I had the same problem since you want to buy as much as possible per vendor/time.
I have had very good experience of the Paddock, 440source, Mancini and PG restorationparts (same as BEA but without chryslerstamp).
Only problem with Paddock sometimes is backorders but very good service and friendly.

In the past I bought a lot from Jims autoparts without any problems because they have a lot of parts but nowadays I read a lot of bad comments
about them.

Most important though is to have a good friend overthere to help you repack and ship to you that the government doesn't destroy your hobby
with all the taxes and customfees.  :icon_smile_big:
