What's the best assembly lube and plastigage?

I pick up my crank monday. I'll go ahead and install it and check the oil clearance. I need the green right? What's the best assembly lube? I see in Don Taylors book he uses chassis grease on the journals. Can I just use assembly lube? I was going to go with Royal Purple or Redline. The only other brands I've seen are Permatex and Lucas Semi-Synthetic. Anyone I should use?
