:o Wow. Cool find indeed :popcrn: Why couldnt that have happened to my car :yesnod:

Current MoPars:
1968 Charger. 318 Out of commission:(
1975 Dart Swinger. 225 Pops daily ride.
1990 Dodge Ram. 360FI My daily ride.
2007 Magnum R/T. 5.7 Family wagon.

Mike DC

This stuff never ceases to amaze me.

Are there people out there today spending $50,000 on a brand new sports car, and then parking it over some minor annoyance with 63 miles on the clock, never to move again until 2045?

The idea sounds ludicrous.  But if the musclear era is any indication, then this is probably still going on today.

I read somewhere that a bunch of people are buying the brand new Challengers, and then putting them into long term dry storage...They would be worth something one day.

Daytona R/T SE

The guy that used to own the local Chevy dealership has several old Corvettes that he put away when they were brand new.

My Dad taught me about TIME TRAVEL.
"If you don't straighten up, I'm going to knock you into the middle of next week!" :P

Ghoste

A guy at work bought TWO new Challengers, 08 models no less.  Mortgaged himself to the eyeballs to buy them and he drives one and is just sitting on the other figuring that in a few years time he'll be able to auction it off for an enormous sum of money.  So there you go.

Mike DC

I wish them luck but I doubt it'll be worth their trouble.

With ANY halfway decent sports car these days, there will usually be anywhere from a couple dozen to several hundred of them being mothballed by future collectors right off the dealership lot.  Let alone something so obvious as a first-year retro Chally.

That's the essence of real collectibility.  If it's brand new and already "everyone knows" it'll be worth more in the future, then it probably won't.

1969chargerrtse

Wow, any Muscle car from that area is a great find.  Wonder what he paid for it?  Hope the guy was smart enought to get some fair money for it.  I like 69 Z/28's but many find the 70 Z to be one of the best Muscle cars of all the Camaro's.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Nice, have my doubts about the miles though  :scratchchin:.1100 miles?,for being in a climate controlled garage the engine looks pretty crappy, oil stains,leaks,rust,etc... The body, paint, inside trunk, etc could have stayed that nice on a 12K mile car, with proper care and cleaning. :Twocents:

That Yenko site is chock full of cool finds. I need to get registered over there.

ps- What's that little digital gadget the guy has when checking the body? I like it and want it.

I rebuilt my 440 in my Charger in 1980 and put like 1200 miles on it since then. My car sat mostly inside and the engine is about as dirty as the Camaro one  :shruggy:

69_500

Believe me there are plenty of Mopars that have had the same things happen to them over the years. Granted its not always one of the cars that is considered the Holy Grail of cars or anything, but its pretty impressive that there are any of these old cars with that low of miles on them.

Heck I've seen a Kit car that has less than 1 mile on the odometer. Tell me that guy isn't crazy.

68charger383

I agree with one of the guys over on Moparts, great find and museum piece-but now your a slave to keeping the car original and low mileage since that's where the value is in the future, so you have to trailer it from one show to another without ever using it.

Plus, based on them saying the buyer was contacted by one of the four appraisers used on the car, the old guy must have gotten a pretty penny for the car.  Anyone know how much???

The buyer will probably do some magazines, hold on to the car and hoping the market will bounce back so he can auction it over at BJs.
