.... out if an old Mopar part number has been superseded?

I am in need of two (2) “bushing â€" gear shift control selector lever” for my ’69 Charger 440 / auto â€" console shift.  I found them in the ’69 Service Manual, and it gave me a part # of â€" 2643910

I tried this on Parts Voice and only got one hit, which leads me to believe that the number has been superseded as I have found in the past that if the number was still active, it would have listed numerous dealers in the United States & Canada.  I have also found in the past that these small “generic” items have been used for years on numerous vehicles by Chrysler.

So, does anyone know how to find out if an older Mopar number has been superseded, or assigned a new part number?

There is a web site that I have heard mentioned before, but I can not remember the name.

Oh yeah, I tried calling the dealer but the younger fellas that work in the parts department only have computers that go back to ’83 and aren’t really interested in putting forth that extra bit of effort.

If you have a service manual and want to look at what I am talking about, it is in:

GROUP 21 â€" TRANSMISSION and is serviced with 21-30-38

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Shakey

It's not so much the young guys but the computer inventory system at most Dodge dealerships that's the problem. Unless the dealership has been around a long time they won't have the old information. If you really want to chase down that part number call Dave Smith Motors at 800-635-8000 or Timberliine Dodge at 800-888-6241. I can't remember the guy's name at Dave Smith Motors but just ask for the parts guy with all the old-school numbers. I think the guy's name at Timberline is Bob.

Or make it easy on yourself and read nh mopar fan's post.
