popping those little grommets in on the windshield wipers

Is there a trick to make it easy?  I can't go it by hand.  Dang, those little things are tough.  My old grommets were brittle, and fell to pieces.  Got my new ones!  Can't get 'em in.

PS - it's a '73 se.

Slide it over a short 3/8" drive extension. Put the female end on the wiper shaft and slide the grommet off the extension on to the shaft.

A little WD40 or soapy water helps.
