So I'm in the market for a newer car. I want something fun to drive, cheap, reliable, gets half decent milage and practicle

I was thinking of getting an srt 4. Now at first I was leaning towards an 04-05 neon srt 4 but I've noticed that I can get an 09 caliber srt 4 for 21,000. If I can get a good finance rate (the 0% doesnt apply to calibers) It would be worth it.

Whats peoples opinions???

the caliber has a 6 speed where the neon only had a 5 and is more powerful even though the neon was underated. But the caliber is heavier....

Don't drive a mickey mouse machine, save your milk money and buy a 09 SRT 8 Challenger 6 speed !!

I get 27-30 mpg in my SRT4 driving 24 miles back and forth to work on a 2-lane State Hwy, and close to 40 on trips. Plus it's fast as f#%k, and I delight in the looks of sheer terror on my unwitting first time passengers who ask, "How fast can it go?"

Go with the Neon version, IMHO. But I did drive a Caliber SRT4 and it was pretty bad ass, too...your call.

I looked at buying a SRT-4 Neon back when I was looking to get a car.  I got to test drive one brand new.  The salesman drove it off of the showroom floor for me so I could give it a drive.  I liked it OK and everything until I went into a downshift and floored it to try and get a feel for it's performance.  Needless to say, I bought the Charger.  That was back when premium gas was $1.70 too  :'( .  Then again, that has nothing to do with what you're asking.

I think 300 ponies and a six-speed is pretty dang good for $21K

Also, I've seen a stock appearing Neon SRT-4 blow the doors off a Viper RT/10 on a highway not far from where I live.  There's something to get you thinking hard about the choice  :2thumbs:

Went and priced the caliber srt-4 today..

With the leather package, sunroof and polished aluminum wheels 24,300.... Plus freight and crap so about 26,000. That's the first price they gave. Havent tried to talk it down yet... Want to ride in one and see how it feels before I buy anyways....

Gonna go see that blue one above and http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Dodge-2004-Dodge-Srt-4-W0QQAdIdZ74559486 this one saturday

The neon SRT 4 is a blast to drive, but I drive quite a bit and I thought it odd that they don't come with cruise control.  I don't care for aftermarket installations so I passed.  I don't know if they corrected that in the  Caliber version.  They are lots of fun for the money.

Caliber does have cruise and a 6 speed manual

I gotta admit... The more I look at a new srt 4 the less I hate it...

This is probably the colour and wheels I'd order it with so it would be pretty much identifiable. I gotta see one in person but when you look at the other versions of the caliber and the srt version they look really different. I know the Srt is lowered but it seems like quiet a bit and it really does help in the look of the car.

Maybe my apprehension comes form not seeing an Srt-4 Caliber in person yet. Only one I saw was passing me on the highway :P

A guy here at work bought a Sunburst Orange SRT4 Caliber, had the windows done with a mirrored, smoked finish that segues into car color, and he got two white racing stripes from the front fascia all the way to the rear fascia. It is one sweet-looking car, and it sounds AWESOME; I think he went to Howell Automotive (http://www.howellautomotive.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=11) for the exhaust. I'd go with that over a glorified Cavalier any day... :Twocents:

Back N Black

The best bang for you buck is a used car 1 maybe 2 years old, thats when you get the best value. I bought a 2007 Impala SS with the 5.3 V8 303 HP only $17,000 Canadian. Its a year old and it cost over $30 G's new.  :Twocents:

went and saw this one http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Dodge-2004-Dodge-SRT-4-W0QQAdIdZ74588441

Very nice car. He deleted the wing which im not a big fan of but its mint other wise. He put a Act Stage 2 clutch which has a bit of clatter until it warms up. But from what I gather thats normal no?

Just saw this one come up http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Dodge-2005-SRT4-16-000-obo-W0QQAdIdZ62057299

And it looks even better. Gonna go try and see this one on the weekend.
