Wow! definately fixable, four speed with a hemi.
Looks like an under dash fire, exterior looks like just smoke damage, probably need new glass though??
What exactly is this?... gauges maybe?

It might be less fixable than it looks though.  Sheetmetal getting heat-treated and warped.  It might not be visible in the auction pics, but that issue could have potentially ruined most of the body if the fire was bad.

If you look closely it also states the vin is missing i don't think they remove them but I may be confused

First off it's not a Hemi car or even an R/T. Second off they are looking for 85K as a starting price......That car is only worth the sum of it's parts, which to me looks like just the drive line and the front sheet metal. I wouldn't pay more then 10K for it and even then you aren't getting a bargin.....they will NEVER get 85K for it.

85k is not the starting price, its the ACV...(Actual Cash Value) is the estimated retail value of a vehicle if it were in an undamaged condition. This information is based on industry resources such a Kelley Blue Book, Black Book, or an independent valuation service.

This is IAA an insurance auction 85k is what paid out for the car in insurance .

OK..I just saw 85K....still not an original R/T or Hemi car....I'd say 10K is a fair price. Hard to believe they paid out 85K for a clone....good deal for the previous owner....

By looking at the pics, I would have to say that it appears to be another case of the dome light throwing off enough heat to catch the dash and seats on fire.  Tragic. 
I wonder what they actually got for it?  I like how in the description under the heading "start", they have "can't test".

WOW! i almost bought that car from mike when he was selling it. i think it was around $30k, but then he got a buyer for around $38k. one of the nicest small block 69 chargers i'd ever seen, he really did a nice job with it. wonder what happened to it to start the fire..

Probably from someone meddling around who couldn't leave well enough alone with it the way it was.  If it was in the condition that Chris' pictures showed, why would you have messed with it?

Yep..That was my old car.  Shame.  Kansas City makes sense too because when he bought it here in Florida he drove it back to KC.  Obviously the hemi and 4 speed conversion came after.  Definetly an interior fire but who knows where it originated. I see hes got aftermarket gauges in it now and what appears to be a radio on top of the console.  Wonder what it sold for in the auction???

Probably a gauge fire. Evidently the gauges didn't work since they have aftermarket ones under the dash. What was the winning bid price?

Only thing that would cause a fire in an unmolested car would be the amp gauge.  But if someone was tinkering around with putting in aftermarket gauges didn't know what they were doing, I still doubt that would cause a fire there.  Another reason to leave everything the way Ma Mopar intended it to be.
