Right side rearview locatiion?

 Hello, folks...quick question  where is the right side mirror located in relation to the left side?  Is it mounted in the exact spot (distance, direction) as the driver side?  I bought a passenger side mirror because of safety concerns when driving and I want to make sure before I start drilling.
