we have a 97 plymouth breeze with a plastic radiator...it has a leak...can these things be patched, or do i need to buy a new one? :shruggy:

Probably not, but it depends where it is leaking.

If it is leaking at a joint between the plastic tanks and the aluminum core, you're pretty much SOL.

If it's a small leak I'd put some JB Weld on and let it sit overnight to cure.  My little Nissan p/u has a plastic radiator with a small crack in it and JB worked just fine.

JB will work but I would use the 2 part Plastic Weld(syringe style) Works like a champ and will not leak if in a plastic on plastic place.
Dries a million times quicker than JB too.(yes, even faster than JB quick as well)

It withstands up to 3500 psi and get the one that bonds the new goofy plastics as well... ie: poly this poly that, etc...

It's at your local NAPA.

I agree with above, plastic to metal, replace it.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

ChargersETC..ETC..

You might try a plastic welder Harbor Freight sells them for around $30.00 . Or maybee try chemically fusing the plastic. :scratchchin:

This place will make a replacement radiator from metal if you end up not fixing yours. His name is Jim.

I've never tried it, but I have bought at least 6 or 7 radiators (not for the same car) from him over the last 25 years.

Plastic rad tanks are a sign of the coming apocalypse.

Seriously, who comes up with this sh*t?

It's right up there with the plastic rear differential covers that came on some 1980s Broncos.
