Hey I'm looking into a 66 plymouth fury sport3 Is it worth $8750?? Was a 318 auto now a 340 4 spd! body is short work of being a nice show car not perfect! Let me know before I sign my life away on this car!!

Daytona R/T SE

The '66 is probably the least desireable of of the 60's Furys.

The grille is just plain ugly in comparison to the '65.

For $8750 it better be rust free and perfect.

You'd better absolutely love this car, because you'll have a tough time if you ever try to sell it...nobody wants them.

Just my :Twocents:

That is the first year they got big and fat. For that price it would have to be a VERY low mile survivor or a super nice restored car but still unless it is a sentimental or  :shruggy:  why consider a 66?

The 340 four speed is nice but how much does it really add to the car?  Let's say it was still a 318, now how much would you pay?  Does having the 340 make up that difference?

any pictures?   i like the interior myself.  if the car is near mint and you like it/it's what you want, then I say go for it.  If you are just settling because you can't find the car you want, then I say think hard about it. :Twocents:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I havn't signed any papers yet I like the car and its not perfect but it would be nice to have a car to cruise in with everyone I know! The charger is still a long way from being done and man do I want go with all the guys to the shows  and have my own car instead of pics of my project car!! Unless anyone wants to sell me a driver 68- 70 charger about the same condition as the fury in the link!! Hey I tried lol :smilielol:

that was one of the cars i had in hidh school. i liked it. drove really smooth. was a 383 4 speed. no room for big tires, but that was ok. sold it to get the 68 charger i wanted. if you get it, make sure its a keeper.

But I don't like that interior, sorry. I was imagining buckets/console, etc.....
After seeing the pics, I retract what I said, I would not pay that kind of money(loan at that) for that particular car in the pictures.  I say keep looking and try to be patient.  I know a loan sounds good and you can get the vehicle right now but the end result after loan term is you paid too much. Trust me, i've done it more than once on impulse and lost every time in the end.

:iagree:  Put $8,750 into your project Charger instead.  Or find a /6 gramma car and swap the drivetrain into your current project Charger and get rolling!  I hear that is the latest trend..       :whistling:

That's a pretty fair amount of money for something that just isn't all that high on the desirability scale. I'd keep looking if I was you, or as others have stated, take that money and put it into getting your Charger finished!

My two cents:  Don't drop $8K on any 1960s car unless you had been searching for that bodystyle in the first place.

It's not enough to get you a nice example of a very collectible bodystyle, and it's too much to spend on a "throwaway"(or at least trade-away) bodystyle that you didn't really want.

I like the 66 C-body - it is by far one of the best car's i've built for a customer...     We swapped in a built 440 and did a complete mechanical restoration...    they drive nice and are comfotable for long hauls - but not many people want them...

She is still up for grabs I didn't buy it!! They will not finance me unless I put money down on it!! Oh well, they can store it over the winter!! Maybe they will think about it. It not that nice on the inside, god does it run like a dream though!! I know that for sure I drove it!! I just wanted to go to the shows with; it will be a long time before my charger gets done. It is only me working on it. It was suppose to be me, my dad, and my grandpa's project. You know 3 generation building one bad a$$ mopar, now it is me trying to build one.

most of those guys live out of state, going to school, working full time, both, or some of them just are to damn domb to work on a car!! Sorry some of there cars where handed to them. That is another subject we are not getting into. A lot of my buddies who used to help are in the military (god bless)!! So now its just me!! Anyone live near bloomingdale, ohio grab your tools and come help lol

bull

Fury IIIs do nothing for me so almost $9k is way too much IMO. But if you like them, go for it. I'd get rid of those Durango look-alike wheels though.

chargerkid01

If I would have bought it they were the first to go I hate them too

rt green

i do think thats too much for that car. i always liked my 66. they were good cars. they are what they are. they cruise nice and handle well. hate to see anyone trash a nice car. i always thought they were an ok looker, not a charger, but i liked em. i've owned one for an extended period of time. and it does grow on you. dont trash a car model untill you.ve owned one for a while. my two cents.
