So I went to get wiper blades for my car. I checked them out a the store and what do you know, a wiper refill (rubber itself) costs more than a complete wiper itself. Of course I went with complete wiper blades. It sucks that you can't save a few bucks and just get a cheaper refill and put them onto wiper blades.  :shruggy:

I hate having to buy wiper blades. The ones I need are either never in stock, or they're some ridiculous price over $28 for one side. I don't care how good the blade is "supposed" to be, the expensive ones don't seem to last any longer than the $3 ones. I plan on changing them regularly now, so I buy the least expensive ones I can find & keep them clean.

Remember the $20 info-mercial wiper blades? Those triple edge ones that can sweep 3 inches of mud & gravel off your windshield in one pass. They bragged about the lifetime guarantee to replace them if they ever fail. If you read the instructions to claim your new blades, they tell you to send the old ones with $5.95 to cover the handling. For $5.95 I can go to the local store every year & still be ahead.

Advance Auto Parts is almost around the corner from me. I picked up a pair of these for my truck 2 weeks ago for $4.98 each. (They're metal frames, not plastic.)

Sometimes the big box stores advertise wiper blades cheaper, but it's hit or miss whether they have any left.

This would be a spot to post about the "good old days" when an attendant pumped your gas for you and the ANCO wiper blade rack was right there by the pumps and if he noticed your blades looked bad while he was cleaning your windows, then you get a set installed on the spot for cheap.  But that would be like admitting I was old so I won't.  Besides, life is so much better now that we pump our own gas and go to the big box stores and find our own parts and then use the self checkout.  We save loads of money now.

I can say about some ANCO replacement fillers that THEY DEFINITELLY DON'T FIT on the old assemblies without modifications. The notches on metal reinforcement on refills are located on different place againts the old blade core. Can be modified thought making new locations on replacement fillers.

Don't ask me how I know!
