Challenger vs ZR1 vs Cadillac on Top Gear... see links off Jalopnik.

This is fresh poop from across the pond as opposed to the 2 year old shows on BBC America.

Good episode.  I like their show...its pretty funny at times.  That ZR-1 is amazing!

WTF is it with Chrysler though?  They wouldn't give them a loaner car so Hammond had to go and buy one for 51k?

Top Gear is probably my favorite show on TV for the past while...  and until I saw that,  neither Clarkson nor May had anything good to say about American cars.    Clarkson came close to liking a Caddy STS and with a Crossfire ragtop this past season - err.. um...  whatever season they just got done with on BBC America.

So... yeah it would be just like Chrysler trying to get a good review out of Consumer reports or (import) C&D.    Why F'ing bother.   No freebies for you!   I understand both points of view but I don't see a reason to disagree with Chrysler's decision not to loan him a car.  He could have probably gone and borrowed a hopped up Mustang but it was cool that he coughed up the dough anyway for the Chally.

The ZR1 is a can't miss sure thing - cause we all know that Vettes get preferential treatment over Vipers anyway.   And that Caddy outperformed the Challenger so GM didn't lose anything off the deal.

:boogie:  I was watching this Top Gear episode, the second one with the Vette ZL-1 The Caddy V and the SRT8 Challanger... and three quarters of the way through, at the 45 Minute mark almost exactly,.. When they show vintage Bonneville Salt Flats Land Speed record Runs - The Blue Flame Special takes off to reveal Behind it Lo and Behold a 1969 Charger R/T!..  :yesnod: :boogie:
I knew you guys would be the guys to give a hoot if ever there was any...  :shruggy:

Ok I'm gonna go back to awaiting a UPS delivery...

I just started watching Top Gear this past week.  The episodes are from a couple of years ago but I find them very entertaining.  Pretty cool show.

Yes, they are old and for a change it wasn't another American Car Bashing episode but why couldn't Hammond get the Challenger to do a Burnout? what was up with that? I normally don't like the show this episode wasn't too bad  :Twocents:

Seems like there was a thread about a youtube video on this site where a guy screwed his new challenger up doing that because he didn't turn off the traction control. But I think he was power braking.

Clarkson and the boys are generally hateful of american cars simply because they are different to what europeans make. imagine you drive mercedes all your life then get into a Corvette? it'd feel weird. They also imply that americans have a different perspective on luxury.

as much as i dont' like to hear them bagging nice muscle cars, they do have a point about their build quality and the Big Three need to lift their game, period. they are supposed to be global companies after all. (well, ford and gm anyway).

I saw that episode,  They said that chrysler was tired of getting a bad review from the top gear trio so wouldn't loan them an srt8 for the article.  So he went and bought one, then at bonneville he couldn't get it much higher than his goal of 150mph in the timed mile.  Overall the comments made about the challenger were very positive throughout the episode,  the caddilac driver had lots of negative comments about the caddy.  The vette had lots of good hype discussed.
