Looking to buy a Skyline very shortly here, any thoughts or advice? I'm not buying one that has been hopped up because I'm looking use it as a daily driver. Really started to like them when I watched Fast and the Furious. Yes, the Charger was cool and all, but the Skyline really caught my eye as a fun and affordable ride...

You probably won't find any here Nakita, even though I wish I could own one myself.   So what exactly are you looking at??? R33, R34???

What kind of shape, what's been done to it, how many miles????  The one thing I've heard to really keep an eye on is the turbo's if they are stock since they are ceramic.   I would try to find an authorized dealer than can at least look at it and go through it for you.

I'm looking for an early 90's one, R32, I believe (still learning). You seem to get a lot of bang for the buck with a Skyline, performance, power options are standard, looks, good resale and of course, the cool right hand drive!

:scratchchin: The body style of the one in the movie pulls in a high figure price wise last time I checked...

*ah nvm, didnt catch the part about the r32  :icon_smile_big:*

R32's were kind of the beginning of the Skyline phenom in the 90's.  The one in the f n f is the R34 GTR R-Spec.  Was not modified very much body wisebut was driveline wise.  Paul Walker actually owns/owned that car from the 2nd one.

The motor is pretty much the same depending on what model you get.  The engine (RB26DETT) is very, very strong.  Capable of 1,000 horsepower with just exterior mods, no internals needed for awhile.  Very good cars.  I talked to someone with a R33 and he stated that they run incredibly smooth with plenty of peddle.  Just make sure you have the road if you plan to open it up.

I'm looking to buy an automatic one, so from what I understand, they only came with the RB20 engine. Automatic Skylines are extremely hard to find, wow! One place here that specializes in Skylines has the automatic ones converted to standard in Japan before he brings them over, making them even harder to find in North America. I case you wondering why the automatic, I have a Class 1 and after awhile the novelty of shifting does wear off, plus my wife refuses to drive a standard and I want her to be able to drive it. Not looking to buy one for racing, just a daily driver.

Interesting, last I heard they were not available in north America. :popcrn:
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Ghoste

A handful made it over although I think they were all brought as used vehicles.

nakita7

They are all brought over from Japan, they weren't built here. Here in Canada a used car has to be 15+ years old. I live in a city of 90,000 and there are about 5 or 6 here.

Ghoste

I said made it over, not made here.  I've never heard that before about a used car needing to be 15 years old before it can be brought into Canada.  Is that a provincial thing or federal?

I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Silver R/T

they're cool cars but very expensive. I'd start out with an Evo or an STi, much more affordable cars and very practical

I don't think they are that expensive (have you seen the price of Mopars...). The ones I'm looking at are under $10K.

Silver R/T

they're not that expensive (R32's) but by the time you bring it to Canada and then ship it to US all the import fees, duties, taxes and having it licensed for the road (since its RHD) car will be so expensive. That's the expenses I'm talking about, once something breaks on them good luck getting parts direct from Japan. Life won't be so easy as it was in fast and the furious lol.
