A buddy just gave me heads up on this one. I had no idea.

Nobody, let me repeat that, nobody, has more odd, unusual, weird, stories to tell than you.  Nobody.  Love reading your threads.

Sometimes the truth is far stranger than fiction.

You just cant make this stuff up.  :shruggy:

If there is an Anti-Christine, this car is it. (it doesn't kill people, it just collects them) Just imagining all the people that have crossed paths with this car over the decades...and how they all seem to recross the same path again. - it just boggles the mind.  :o

Ghoste

It has become a famous (infamous?) car, there's no doubt about that.  So yet another diecast I'll have to buy I suppose.

I'm still trying to get my hands on a Christine model....

There is something a little off with that scale model. Either there is too much curve to the front fender line or the rear deck lid is too short (or both). Very cool though!

Looks fine to me, I'm sure they did an accurate job on it.  I think the stripe is throwing you guys off.

  That looks sweet!  Hey isn't your car the one I saw in Hemmings Muscle Machine - Car of the Year?

njsteve

Yup, that's the car. It came in second, behind the Oldsmobile! Thank you to all who voted.  :2thumbs:

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the guys that own supercar collectibles hang out on that yenko forum.   I know one of the guys currently owns a Yenko and the other owned one about 10 years ago.

Steve,  I'd contact the company who is making them and tell them you want some free or have to pay you some royalties for using your exact car.  When the Welly diecast toys and the rep from The Franklin Mint came out and measured, took pics, and imaged our 70 el camino SS 396, we ended up getting a case of them for free (from Welly) and got a couple free models from the Franklin Mint as compensation for using our car.

Nice looking model but it ain't right that they used it for free or without your permission.

They could possibly deny it being his car? Steve, I thought you liked keeping a low profile :scratchchin: :shruggy: LEON.

njsteve

I tend to keep a low profle.  :coolgleamA:
The car on the other hand, has a life of her own. She's a very jealous woman.  :flame:

As for the model company denying its my car, well that would have been kind of hard since mine is the only red one of the sixteen known to have been built.

When I spoke to the owner of the company, (who is a major Mopar guy) and placed my order he said that it is my car that they duplicated. Their specialty is producing a lot of low production 1/18 scale replicas of real cars. I consider it quite a compliment that they thought my old red car was worthy of being shrunk for public consumption.

Since they were making my car's version from an existing model/mold it wasn't like they came out and measured and photographed the car, making me worthy of free copies. They simply used an existing ERTL model, changed the interior and exterior colors and drivetrain and voila, they had a new version. I believe they make an FC-7 version as well in both R/T and R/T-SE, vinyl and smooth top. Other colors, too, in 440 and Hemi.

Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise to see it immortalized as a toy in the same week as the original owners were reunited with the car. I figured it was Karma. So I didnt bother anyone about it.
