440 from what vehicle

 i have a 440 in my 70 dodge charger, the motor is in the vehicle i know that it is a 77 block but how would i be able to tell what vehicle it came from with the motor in my car....thx

Isn't the VIN number on the block on all 69 and newer cars?  I was thinking that if it was, that would give you a starting point.

Look on the lower part of the block by one of ther oil pan rails below one of the mounts. I'm thinking left side?
