WIW -- 1974 (I think) Satellite

I keep seeing what I think is a '74 Satellite down the road a ways from where I work that looks to be in decent shape. They had it for sale for a while and I wasn't that interested but now that the for sale sign is gone I'm more interested. ;D Anyway, what are those things worth? It looks to me like a base model with a flat hood, etc. Maybe a 318 or 400, who knows. I'll get some pics in the next few days but for now it looks like this one, but not quite as clean, and it's a cream color.

mikepmcs

If it's in decent shape and it runs, I'd have no problem paying anywhere from 1800-2700 or so.  Depends on condition.  But in my mind, you can't get a decent newer car for that price these days so why not drive something you like. I'll be looking for an older Mopar daily driver myself in that range in the near future, at least I know I can work on it and if I get stuck, ya'll are right here to help.
BUY THAT CAR!

And, yes, every older car seems to look cool to me these days as well.  Didn't you start that thread or something like that?

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Skyview69

That car looks real nice. Does not look like a collector car so I would pay $2k for it and enjoy it!

I don't think that is the car Bull is looking at.  I think he just posted a pic of a car of that year for reference.

Satellites have picked up in price. Many like to RR clone them.
I have sen them go for $4000-$7000 on E-Bay and local.
They are a smooth ride. I have a 74' SatellRunner. :icon_smile_tongue:

I called the place a little while ago and they said they want $2,000 for it. That's a starting price to make it worth looking at anyway. They told me it's a 318 base model with A/C, bench seat and automatic with 99k original miles on it. They also told me it's a one owner car. :o The only thing I don't like much is the color -- kind of a baby-poop light beige or cream. :eek2:

Anyway, I'll swing by there on Friday or Saturday and get some pictures of it.

2k for that car ain't bad. You would never find a deal like that around here. Looks like a nice car from just the one pic.

Not sure why you don't like the color...I mean you thought this thing was pretty cool... http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/898898244.html

I shouldn't have posted that picture. It was only meant to be an example and it's creating confusion. Not that the one I'm looking at is in worse condition, just different.

That's pretty much the color, but not so much rust. :icon_smile_big:

I stopped by the car again last night to have a closer look and discovered it's one of those Sunfire editions, or Sebring or whatever you call them. It's got the yellow stripe down the sides with the sunshine decal on the sail panel and a half vinyl top so I guess it's not the base model. It's got the original paint (lower quarters are wiped clean of paint with at least one small cancer spot) and the interior looks pretty original and mint from what I can see. The seats have that wild plaid pattern. :o

thats the Spring Special Charger equivalent, Plymouth Satellite Sundance. I hope interior will be IN PERFECT conditions, because if not....

and if you are planing on resto, take care of the stripe to try to repro it... no one new around or repro.

sometime ago somebody was selling the frontal decal on ebay.

Rallye

Yep, that's a Sundance.  :2thumbs:  If that thing is complete and in decent driving condition with a nearly mint interior, I say $2000 is an absolute steal.  Stop thinking about it and just buy it.   :Twocents:

Wish I could find a deal like that around here...

Here's some more info on them: http://jalopnik.com/cars/down-on-the-street/1974-plymouth-satellite-sebring-sundance-edition-272181.php It's actually called a 1974 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Sundance Edition according to the previous link.

I don't like the '73 & '74 Satellite/Road Runners, they ruined the grille.

But I have to say, I'm digging the stripe quite a bit.   :D
