allong teh years the route for the spark plug wires has been changed. eraliers for example runs in front of driver side head and block for a while laters runs above valve cover. I thibnk also changes if with A/C or not. Everything on this makes diff lenghts for the years. How you can determinate whats the right one if seller is not specifying ?

example:

yeah I think already have that link. anyway I'm not searching yet, just was wondering about. I think got that website when I asked about some chance to find "HiPo" wires still on 7 mm.

resto dealers ( year one, paddock ) sells Mopar wires or any brand wires, and they not state the year on setup, simply state the engine, being that on diff years the route was diff making diff lenghts.

Natcho, the firecore wires are available as a stock replacement for 69-70 440 engines. Those wires are black 8mm with 90* boots on the plug ends. The resto guys prefer the 8mm so that the stock wiring looms can be used.  :coolgleamA:

I just sent a set over to one of our members in Belgium for his GTX. If you want a custom set made just let me know and give me the lengths you want and what boot and cap style you're looking for.  :yesnod:

Beware of the "resto" wires....they are junk. Just measure the resistance on a few of them and you will see what i mean.  :P

Ron

Ps. Here's a thread on Mike's 440 based stroker build with pics. You can see the 8mm firecores being used with the factory wire looms.

They can be used but they need to be modified to fit the 8mm wire.....stock looms are made for 7mm wires.  Not hard to do and I did this for my "race day" set of wires...

as Chris stated, 8 mm wires doesn't fit on stok looms, thats why I'm begining to search for good 7 mm wires... plus as many of you know guys, I'm trying to keep stock specs an look on exterior.

Natcho, i don't get it....you're allways asking about cam swaps, raising compression and improving performance but you're willing to sacrifice performance with a set of junk wires to achieve the "look" ! :brickwall:

Makes absolutely no sense to me....maybe you should install a 2bbl on your 400 and call it good.  :shruggy:

Yes Ron they do fit BUT need to have the plastic retainers drilled out to accept the 8mm wire (see my pic posted above).....especially challenging was drilling out the plastic retainer for the #8 wire on the back of the pass side of the block...plastic melts fairly quickly :eek2:

thats what I'm saying :)

and really I don't want to sacrifice performance, just asking if does exist HiPo wires on 7 mm.

AAAAAND this specific question really was about how you can select a wires setup, if year and equipment options are not being specified by a seller on item specs. Driver side wires are longer on 73/74s due the diff route. Not ANY wires setup fits on ANY engine

I am aware of the original question. I'm sure you know that no one makes a specific wireset for your application "off the shelf"...at least not a performance wire. Even the so-called cutom wire sets that were supposed to be factory spec have been poor fitting from my experience.

As for the Firecores : a lot of time and effort was spent researching the correct lengths and boot styles for the most popular applications (68-70) so if yours doesn't fall into that category then you might have to do a little work if you want the same exact fit as stock. It's a simple as pulling your existing wires and measureing them....Firecore will do the rest.

Your other option would be to purchase a universal set and make up your own if you feel comfortable doing it.

Hi guys. Thanks for all of the great words on our product. What year car are you talking about ? If it is a 72 orlater, we have HI-PO orange  7mm. They are 270 ohm per foot race wire, in the original orange wire. Same wire we use for the race Hemi sets..  What year ??Thanks, Rick

Nacho-RT74

74.

Is that the best performance we can get on 7 mm ? 270 ohms ?

Yes. Moroso's general racewire is 800 ohms per foot. Ours is the best possible wire made, in 7mm, that looks stock for your 74 Mopar. Price is $105 and shipping.

Nacho-RT74

OUCH!... $105, and if you think mostly sure will be international shipping... WILL HAVE TO WAIT

Thats fine. We sell a lot of them here in the US. Compare them with the other original looking , quality racewires out there. Not sure what it would cost to ship to Ven. ?
