Battery question

I have a 68 Charger R/T fully restored. I have had to replace the OEM battery look-a-like every four years due to numerous reasons. I have a battery tender hooked up when not in use but it does not seem to be enough to give me more than 4 years on the battery. I would like to know if anyone has modified the OEM battery (red caps) to accomadate an Optium battery. I am refering to cutting the OEM look-a-like open and possible placing the Optium in side, therefore making the engine department look stock. Any ideas would be appreciated

You can buy the oem look battery that is like the optima. I have one in my car now for almost 6 years. They are close to 300.00 with shipping. The place that sells them has them a little cheaper on ebay.

I looked at the battery you have used. Do you think the next size up would work? Is there any gain in doing this?

Robert the one I used has worked fine for me so far.....no trickle charger on it over the winter last year (they don't recommend it)
Car stayed dormant from December '07 till April '08.   That little sucker cranked the motor alive WITH an empty fuel bowl without a hitch (no jumping or charging needed)

I will take your advise, once again, thanks. I will post some photos when I get back home next week of my 68 Charger R/T.

I have the same one with no issues , yet.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.
