For you guys running batteries in your trunk, can you help me out with a couple of things??

What thickness cable are you running from the engine compartment to the trunk?

Are you running your ground from the battery to the engine bay or grounding out in the rear of the car??

Right now, when my car gets hot, it doesn't want to start (until it cools a bit). I know the cables are too thin, but I'm wondering if the ground to the engine bay is necessary??

Thanks, In advance.

i used to use 4 gauge welding wire. i never had an issue  but when i changed to a mini starter i upgraded to 2 guage welding wire sence i had to replace the run of wire anyway. i run  my ground to my bumper bolt in the  rear. i solder on my ends on.

Used #1 guage wire with mini starter.   Grounded battery in trunk.  Put positive wire in convoluted tubing for second layer of insulation. Put a 175 amp fuse on ground strap.    #2 wire would have worked fine with mini starter.
