Guns N Rotors

Last July, I put up a post on Kelly Pavlik. He was a customer of mine
and we ended up becoming good friends.

Not too many people knew who he is or that he is the Middleweight
Boxing Champion of the World.

This Saturday October 18, 2008 he will be fighting a non-title bout
against Bernard Hopkins in Atlantic City. Keep your eyes on Kelly, He's
going to be really, really famous.

Here is a great article and video on who he is and where he comes from.

Good Luck, Champ!!!  Defend Youngstown!

I've been watching Kelly on HBO boxing since he started. He's the truly the pride of Youngstown Ohio, ...and probably "the pride of hearts and minds of every working class guy all over America".

He comes from a place that has seen a lot of economic depression - - way before anywhere else felt it. With the absence of steel mills, Youngstown has had a struggling economy for years.

From what I've seen on the HBO segments, he's also been a true friend and mentor of a teenage boy with cancer (who's in recovery now, thankfully ) and has been taking this young man under his wing to provide inspiration and hope, like a father figure. Kelly is a true boxing hero.....sort of a modern day Rocky (if he was fighting today). I wish him all the best  :icon_smile_wink:  I like him!  :2thumbs:

Just bought a "Team Pavlik" sweatshirt at the Eastwood Mall in Niles, OH, near Youngstown. Kelly Pavlik is not only a great fighter, but a true embodiment of a "homeboy" and proud, contributing member of his community, who selflessly gives back. Hope he knocks loudmouth Bernard Hopkins on his soon-to-be-retired ass Saturday night.  TEAM PAVLIK!!!
