Sounds like your starter is dragging to me.

How would you be able to tell if it is the starter? Is there a way to test it myself with out having to take it some where? Thanks for the in put. Is there a web site I can go on to get the wiring diagram for the car I have most of it figured out but thee are some things I havent figured out yet.

If you had a load tester you could test it at home.. If you have it off maybe see if it drags when you jump the solenoid. If nothing else check the brushes and armature for wear. As far as websites for wiring  :icon_smile_question:

A little more info. Is it starting at all? How long are you cranking until it fades? Have you checked the ballast resistor?

I took the starter of and took it to a battery ware house that I deel with through my company and they tested it for me and it was dragging they said that they dont see to many starters for the dodge charger but they had one in stock so I got the new starter and will hopefully get the chance to put it in and check it out by the end of the week. The car hasn't started for about 10 years which is why I took the motor aprt and freshend everything up and put it back togetther I have had it for three years it was my dads car and I started working on it with him when I was 12 and I am 29 now he had it running and drove it for about 5 years and then he had surgery on his hand and lost some mobility so he couldn't really work on it so he lost interest in it so I finnally bought it from him and no I am trying to peice it back together. I think I have it just about there but we shall see I had a guy offer me $40,000 when I was done putting it back together but I am not sure if I want to sell it.

That guy must be on Crack, put it back together and take the $. That is hard to believe, even if it was a 440 Rally Charger. :scratchchin: :popcrn:
