I bought the kits to rebuild our 68 door hinges and need some clear instructions as to how. First question is how do you remove metal  from the hinge faces to allow for the bushing flanges? I've done this before and used a file to remove the material seemed to work OK. I removed equals amounts from each face as much as I could to maintain alignment. To get to the correct size for the bushings and allow for at least .001 of press I stepped drilled sizes up until I reached the size drill needed to allow for the press of the bushings. Does this process sound workable to get er done?????? I would love to have some instructions in print maybe there is a better way! :scratchchin:  :shruggy:

I did mine exactly the way you described. I bought a generic mopr hinge rebuild kit from AutoZone. The box gave the drill bit size to drill out for the bushings. I carefully drilled them out to keep the holes center with one another, and then inserted the bushings. Yes, I did have a clearance problem due to the flanges, so I carefully removed a little material from the top and bottom of the receiving hinge bracket. If I remember right, I think I got impatient with the file and used a roloc disc on an air tool, but a file should work fine. Should be pretty straight forward.

A easier way is to buy them already rebuilt from Year one, ect,. LEON.

Yeah, no sweat. I personally don't think its worth paying the 100 bucks and waiting a month for Year One to rebuild them when I can buy the kit at auto zone for 10 bucks. Rebuilding them only takes an hour.

You dont wait a month for year one to rebuild them. Guess you've never did this with year one. Everytime I've done it they allready have a set rebuilt. Allready done, long before you placed your order. Only thing is they charge a core deposit until you send in your old ones. Which they then rebuild later for someone else. LEON.

If you want to do it yourself, its pretty easy. knock the old pin out , then drill the inner part to accept the bushing then pound in the new pin and youre done.  the pin kits cost about 10.00 a hinge.
