Its kind of a win-win choice either way, but if there is a price difference, which I'm sure there is :yesnod: , it would sway me one way or the other.

That optioned out 440 R/T sounds pretty nice......

I'm sure to be in the minority......but I don't like alot of options, they clutter up a car (as well as quit working), and I usually remove all that kinda stuff, regardless of rarity....gimme a plain jane car with a big engine and a 4 speed and I'm good.

In this case, #2....the one WITHOUT the sunroof.......sunroofs have NO business on a Charger, factory or not. Plus, it's a Hemi car, sure not original engine, but so what.

I wouldn't buy a Hemi Charger personally. I like to make a car what I want it. If I did half the stuff on a original Hemi Charger as I have with mine I would have been lynced by now.

Me, I got a 318 "Base" model and made it what you see today. not one inch of this car hasn't been touched by my hands. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

The 440 car. I have NO interest in owning a Hemi car. Have owned 47 Mopars over the last 26 years, have had opportunities and really could care less. I appreciate the history, etc, but I don't think they are worth the extra money at all. When I hear the word 'Hemi' I think of the word pretentious... :Twocents:

Mark, please don't take this the wrong way but ......

BUY THE FRIGGIN' HEMI CAR ALREADY!!!

This decision is obviously tearing you up inside......

The questions you are asking in this & your other post can only be answered by YOU.

Again, bottom line....do you want the car for its resale value or coolness factor?

ANYTHING originally equipped with a Hemi engine will have a higher resale value.  Anything loaded to the hilt with options will have more coolness factor AS WELL as resale value BUT not as high as a Hemi equipped car.

I apologize up front for sounding crude & harsh but thats how I feel.  If a hemi car is your lifelong dream to own, then so be it...you already have the collateral to trade up

PS---you already know what I would pick......  T7 Bronze & a coulum shift?  :slap:  (no offense to the T7 & column shifted car owners ;) )

keep the sunroof car....

I would take the Hemi Charger, but not because it is a Hemi...I actually like T7 and if the wheels are painted the same with the dog dish hubcaps  :2thumbs:, plus I could drive the heck out of it and if something breaks...oh well.  I'd much rather have the car to drive than have one that is just a show piece.    :Twocents:

That's easy....none.  ;)

But seriously, an original Hemi car is always the most sought after car. On the other hand, I know there are many out there who won't even consider a non-numbers car, so a matching #'s Sunroof car like you own would probably seem a little more desirable to a #'s hound. Is your sunroof car worth more than the car you are comparing it to? I doubt it, but it's much cooler (IMO). I would take that sunroof car in a second over the Hemi car.  :Twocents:

Badbob

I own a #'s matching sunroof car,

TAKE THE HEMI!!!

69_500

In your scenario I'd take the sunroof car over the HEMI car any day of the week. Just based solely on the love I have for sunroof cars, and the fact of exactly how nice the one you have is.

gtx6970

Options, options, options..
did I say I like options. Only reason I'd buy another hemi car is if I had what I wanted in a high options car , had extra gargae space  and just wanted something different

Having had wingcars, hemi cars, and convertibles. My all time favorites have been drop tops.

bullit68

i think thats a tough call.especially since you already own the sunroof car and it is virtually irreplaceable.probably close to a one of a kind.once its gone, thats it.hemi chargers are for sale all the time, but in my opinion are the ultimate 69.it sounds like it is a dead heat in your mind, then for me,it would come down to price difference, location, condition etc.i have a 69 hemi 4 spd charger resto project,i wouldn't trade it for a 440 sunroof car myself.how long have you owned the sunroof car?is it restored?maybe its time to move on and try something different.

pettyfan43

My take on it the same as khyron's. I'd take the money that either of these cars are worth and build a car the way I want it. BUT I'm not a numbers, it has to be rare kind of guy.

I want a driver. Buy a clean 318-383 car and set it up to be a fun driver.

BUT that's just me, that's how I see it, I could be wrong and your mileage may vary.

:iagree:

I think you get much more attached to the car like this, and............you get it like you want it :2thumbs:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

What about keeping your sunroof car and setting the engine aside for now and dropping in a Crate Hemi?

69_500

If I'm remembering right, didn't you have another car other than the sunroof RT/SE as well? Or have you already liquidated that one? Or as a buddy of mine said about his 68 HEMI Dart, he recycled it into paper (also known as selling)

This would definitely be the right time to buy a car, as the prices are down, only down side is the amount you could get out of your RT/SE if you had to liquidate it to get enough cash to do the deal.

Sabre

I don't like sunroofs on Chargers, so the Hemi Charger would be my choice.

BROCK

Nice cruiser or tough bruiser?  Both:  Two Chargers are better than one!

Yeah you're right.I have a 69 Charger R/T F6 green car that is pretty highly optioned but my wife drives that one She calls it HER car) so she wouldn't let me sell that one. As far as the sunroof RT/SE car it's in great shape and I'm finishing doing a complete overhaul on the numbers matching engine and transmission as well as repainting and detailing the engine bay and totally redoing the front end.

Maybe I'll just find a 69 hemi engine and put it in the sunroof car and keep the numbers 440 engine on an engine stand in the garage.
