How about a Coronet in the wild?  This lady has been driving around in this car for 40 years now.  There's a pillow on the torn and worn seats and a big note taped to the dash that reads " PUT IN P BEFORE STARTING ".

Nice car. Someone needs to buy it from the ol' lady.....and put her ass in a used Neon.  ;)

This is an older pic, but I kinda thought it looked "wild" :icon_smile_cool: BTW the weather was warm today unfortunatly the roads were still wet or I would've gotten my own "in the wild" pics today!!

In late spring '07, I was on I-85S goin' towards Charlotte 11 a.m. about, and saw in a wing goin' north. Then another.  :o??? 2 wings? An event somewhere, of course. :yesnod: Then in a few minutes, 2 more.

That night, I registered and posted in one of the Mopar forums - someone would know about that.

A couple of responses posted a day or 2 later. They had been at Petty's home earlier, and were goin' to another meet. Some one referred to one of the pilots by first name; no surprise.

One was a metallic olive? green Daytona black vinyl, I think, the one Superbird had the Petty race scheme, and another Daytona was silver / black, I think. Can't remember the fourth. Some one knows, I'm sure ;)

I'm near Greenville NC. I was goin' into Charlotte when I saw them...

Where are you there Manfred?

Somehow, I just found the thread I created lookin' for info...

http://moparforums.com/forums/f4/what-did-you-see-today-261/

Oops... wrong one...

I found a couple of Mopar forums where I posted it; it was 06/20/07. A guy in Mooresville replied in one, he saw 8 of 'em at gas station near there. Not all wings...

Now I'm really curious. Can't find the one where the guy said they had left Petty's home that mornin'.  :shruggy:

FOUND IT!  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I think I saw this car

The info says most of the guys took country roads to the Petty museum in Randleman on that morning I saw 4 wings on I-85.

Manfred318

I remember that... I met the black and silver one going south on  U.S.220 I73/74 that afternoon. I guess it was after the goings on at the Petty Museum. If its the same one I used to see that Orange SuperBird cruising up and down Fayetteville St. here all the time.

Arizona Dave

Here in dry desert Arizona, I see "lots of early Camaros, Chevelles and Firebirds on the road.... the average no imagination muscle cars.

I see 10) '67-'69 Chevys on the road for every 1) 66-70 Charger.  It's a rarer sight to see a 66-70 Charger just out cruising.  I know guys have quite a few of them packed away in beautiful climate controled garages, though early Mopars in AZ are very special.

Most the car guys I know think of the 69 Charger as the pinacle bad ass muscle car.

I do see original dry southwest 66-72 GM muscle cars out on the road frequently.  Our cars don't rust here.  I wish Arizona car guys didn't think 60's Mopars were so awesome, and then there'd still be more unrestored originals out cruising the roads here.
High Speed & Low Drag, Baby!
Look me up when you're in AZ.
