My wife and I do our house up for halloween almost as much as we do for christmas. We have styrofoam headstones for a graveyard in the front yard and a big blow up pumpkin and ghost. Inside we have all types of store bought decorations, haunted painting, cobwebs, pumpkins, gothic looking candleobras and such, ceramic halloween decorations, themed candle holders etc.. We dont really make anything in the craft sense, and I cant think of any tips on how we decorate. Kind of just put stuff out.

We get most of our decorations from garden ridge, hobby lobby, wal mart, target, etc..    Not sure about where you live, but in the Houston area there are numerous halloween stores that only sell halloween decorations. The only name of the three companies that do this that I can think of is Spirit. They are all a little pricey but they have very scary and nice quality decorations. Most items are good enough to be in haunted house attractions or b- grade horror movies.  However we like the more kid friendly stuff, so we stay away from most of what they sell.

We've got the styrofoam head stones and skulls and such but I can't hold a candle to my neighbor about four houses down. He's got about 15 head stones, a fog machine and a floating ghost in his living room along with an eerie soundtrack playing in the background, among a bunch of other things. We usually buy a thing or two during the clearance sales after Halloween but like any other holiday I get tired of dragging stuff out all the time. Between Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas it seems like that's all I do.

We kept the trick or treaters that showed up last Halloween for this year. It gives a much more, realistic morbid feel to the Halloween theme. I just don't think we'll have as many beggars this year.

I just thought of a halloween idea my wife told me about. If you are having a party and there will be a punch bowl heres what you can do. Take latex doctors gloves and fill them up with water or punch and freeze them in the freezer. Also you can get a halloween mask and seal up the eye and mouth holes (cant remember how my wife said they did this) and once again freeze water or punch by putting into freezer. Then place into the punch (after removing gloves and mask of course) and it gives an appearance of body parts in the punch.  Thats all I have for now.

one year I went to a local butcher and got some "undesireable" parts of pigs and such and scattered them in my lawn/walkway and things of that nature with ALOT of blood all over the place...    put some red lights in my lamppost in my front yard and I dressed as a Grim Reaper with a sythe, hung out on a little slab so people thought I was a prop and scared the holy crap out of some kids (no not the really little ones...    just the teenage girls and stuff)

The city frowned on the blood

I just wonder if Satan is dismayed at how all the meaning has been taken out of Halloween with all the commercialism and candy and decorations. It's horrible. :rotz:

As a matter of fact, yes I am.  :D

Cheer up. It's not the end of the world...

Oh. Sorry. For most, that'd be a good thing.

I don't celebrate holidays much myself but tomorrow I am having a pumpkin carving contest with my buddy Jasons GF Anne(as long as she gets em outta here afterwards)  I'm gonna kick her arse big time.  Who's gonna start the thread for pumpkin carving pics.  I think it was Kelly last year(lizard)
If no one does I'll start it when we are done and she takes some pics.

You're not Satan, you're just a mental and emotional basket case.

The wife & I decorate like crazy each year, fog mach, flying ghost, strobe lights, a complete graveyard dimly lit , change the house bulbs to flickering kind, Oh heres a cheap one...I bought 2 pieces of large black construction paper & taped them together & then grabbed a large kitchen butcher type knife layed on the floor on top of it & had my wife trace me, cut it out & hung in upstairs window & then threw a strobe light behind it & it looks great use it every year now!
oh
& each year I look forward to the kids saying "geez Mr you have the coolest house"....I guess it dont hurt that I give out the big candy bars huh?

Steve P.

I went grocery shopping the other day and while going down the wrong isle I overheard a guy asking his wife if they were going to start stocking up on candy.

Her reply was::  ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? WE ARE TURNING OUT THE LIGHTS!!!!

I guess they were feeling the crunch....

Every year, my family carves a pumpkin apiece. Mine on the right (Gene Simmons), my wifes', then my sons', then my daughters'.
A bit of a tradition in our household.
The whole works goes out on our veranda.

wow, finally back on a couple days ago and couldn't figure out a resize program to use since I can't find my original Dell Image expert program and my hard drive was wasted.
Anyways, couldn't start a pumpkin carving thread due to computer no worky.  I did manage to carve a couple pumpkins that now lay rotting on my front porch.  I set one up 2 nights ago anyway and took a picture of the remains.  Here is what is left of Barbosa.

By the way, I'm using powertoy image resizer for xp now.

A relevant topic...again!
And here's this years crop of Jack o'lanterns from the McQueen household.
Left to right...my daughters', my sons', my wifes' and mine....
I'm thinking Stewie should be considered as scary as Gene Simmons.

Another year has gone by! (Where does the time go??)
This years' "crop" of Jack-o-lanterns are a bit different.

My son Sheldon's on the far left, was going to be Darth Vader....but got changed to the creepy pumpkin from "Sleepy Hollow".
Next, my daughter Kaitlyns' tribute to "The Scream", a painting by Edvard Munch...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Scream
After that, my wife Annas' pumpkin, a take on the "seeing faces in odd places", in this case, in the branches of a tree...
The last one is mine, which is supposed to be Jeremy Clarkson from the BBC-TV version of "Top Gear".
