I've been searching for a drive shaft for my charger and finally found one. But it has a counter weight mounted on the shaft, it came of a 68 Charger. The guy told me that he bought the car 30 years ago and the shaft was on there. It this original to the car or is it out of something else?

To my knowledge, all drive shafts have external counter weights as they would tack them on as every drive shaft is not perfectly balanced when made.  They add the necessary weight to it to balance it.

My 68's original drive shaft had the ring welded on the front....nothing to be concerned about.  ;)

Its quite normal as there a lot of these big ring driveshafts out there, go ahead and use it as it should be fine.

The ring was more for harmonic noise reduction. Fine to use as long as you are not running an alky blower on it.. ;)
